Not sure if this is worded correctly but..

USC: Do you have residency in your spouse's country?

Non-USC: Does your USC spouse have residency in your country?

Was it granted automatically? If not, how was the process compared to your CR1/IR1/K3 process for the US?

I now have residency in my husband's country (Israel). Here, all we had to do was provide our Marriage certificate to Misrad HaPnim (Ministry of Interior) and wait the mandatory 6 months because I am not Jewish. However, provided you are both Jewish, there is no waiting and you recieve automatic citizenship.

The process to get citizenship here is painless.......especially if you are the right religion!! haha! :)

My USC husband has residency in Ireland, it was much easier than the US visa process!

When he moved here three years ago, he didn't even need a visa. He came on a one-way ticket, immigration asked him why he was here, he said "I am marrying an Irish girl.", officer smiled and that was that. Got married a month later (residency requirement- be in Ireland for 30 days before wedding), wandered down to the Aliens Office, showed them our marriage cert, waited 15 minutes and he had a work permit and 10 year Irish "green card".

Me: Irish/ Swiss citizen, and now naturalised US citizen. Husband: USC; twin babies born Feb 08 in Ireland and a daughter in Feb 2010 in Arkansas who are all joint Irish/ USC. Did DCF (IR1) in 6 weeks via the Dublin, Ireland embassy and now living in Arkansas.

Wow, another easy one! You guys are so lucky.. my husband only has his provisional Aussie PR at the moment (like a CR1) and we have to file for removal of conditions next year. And the PR he will be granted will only be a 5yr one. It's such a headache because while we'd both like for him to gain his Aussie citizenship, I don't know if we can find the time to do it since he needs to fulfill residency requirements there to qualify, and I'll need to do the same with my US citizenship. Don't know how I'm gonna figure that one out!

My husband currently have 5 year Entry visa for India (it is equivalent to residency), but may be a year or so later we are planning to apply for PIO (person for Indian origin) for him.

For the visa, all he had to do was send his passport, our marriage certificate, my passport's biodata page's copy and his 2x2 photograph at Chicago's Indian consulate and he got back his passport with 5 years multiple entry visa within 8 days or so and took only $180. With PIO, he can even buy land in India. India doesn't allow dual citizenship so PIO is the next best thing.
