The ultra-liberal Americans for Democratic Action, the ACLU and the National Lawyers Guild joined the chorus. Further, the Communist Party USA supported higher immigration on the grounds that it destabilizes working Americans.

wow, they left out the weatherman/.//and the sds.....biased..the gop has a large role in the current mess..bush..mccain..obama and the dems. share the same views.

I think its all self-explanatory. The corporations and the ethno-centric lobby that controls Congress are to blame. Get that! An ethno-centric lobby that CONTROLS Congress.

Give us all a break! Do I have to explain everything to you? Can't you figure anything out on your own? Great sarcasm though. I love it.

We have had back to back elections that have been razor close. The present election looks the same with single digit fluctuations one way or another. Unfortunately some of the clowns in congress think that pandering to the 5% of the electorate that is Hispanic will put them over the top. Hence that idiot Obama proclaims that Hispanics will decide the election. Both McShame and Obama have put on knee pads and met with La Raza on more than one occassion to pander to them with promises of mass illegal alien amnesty. Screw the 95% of the electorate that ain't Hispanic. Of course we already know Obama has 94%+ of the black vote. No surprise there. Whites are divided between libs and conservatives (aka: Dem & GoP). Ever wonder why the Dems push so hard for amnesty with a path to citizenship and the GoP pushes for guest workers? Cheap votes vs cheap labor is the answer. If you can't convert the natives, just import more votes to push yourself over the top. If the serfs won't work for what we want them to work for we'll import more cheap labor. The cheap labor of the GoP will come back to cut their throat and their union busting corporate patrons. McShame thinks he can sway Hispanics, but he can't. His feeble attempts at pandering to the illegal alien cheerleading squad by jumping in bed with that idiot Kennedy is for naught. He's just too stupid to see it.

Apparently both the Dems and McShame think there is gold in them there hills of illegal aliens. After all there is 20+? million of them and growing every day.

And the gumballs in the YouTube clip keep multiplying. Ater all, what's another 100+ million added to the US population from inaction and malfeasance by our government? It's all about money and power for the 1% that own America and the 9% that run it for them. The other 90% are forced to ride in the back of the bus and accept it. That's life on the plantation. The pool of serfs just keeps getting bigger. More serfs=cheaper labor and cheaper votes.

The morons of both parties that run this country could care less about the American people. They play their stupid games in DC and think the country is all about them. It ain't. The American people should shoot the whole lot of them and start over from scratch.

The 2008 election will change nothing but the goofy faces on the TV screen.

This ain't the America I grew up in and it's not what my dad and uncles fought for in WW2.

Signed,

Busted, disgusted, and can't be trusted in 2008

Maybe I'll just sit this one out on the fence and laugh. But the joke will, unfortunately, be on us. ;)

"Credibility in immigration policy can be summed up in one sentence: Those who should get in, get in; those who should be kept out, are kept out; and those who should not be here will be required to leave."

"...for the system to be credible, people actually have to be deported at the end of the process."

US Congresswoman Barbara Jordan (D-TX)

Testimony to the House Immigration Subcommittee, February 24, 1995

One has to ask who Peejay votes for, he's sounding incredibly like a communist in that post.

I don't agree with a lot of what he wrote there but I do think he wrote it well. At least I enjoyed reading it.

The Party for Socialism and Liberation believes that the only solution to the deepening crisis of capitalism is the socialist transformation of society. Driven by an insatiable appetite for ever-greater profits regardless of social cost, capitalism is on a collision course with the people of the world and the planet itself. Imperialist war; deepening unemployment and poverty; deteriorating health care, housing and education; racism; discrimination and violence based on gender and sexual orientation; environmental destruction—all are inevitable products of the capitalist system itself.

For the great majority of people in the world, including tens of millions of workers in the United States, conditions of life and work are worsening. There is no prospect that this situation can or will be turned around under the existing system.

The idea that the capitalists’ grip on society and their increasingly repressive state can be abolished through any means other than a revolutionary overturn is an illusion. Equally unrealistic are reformist hopes for a “kinder, gentler” capitalism, or solutions based on economic decentralization or small group autonomy. Meeting the needs of the more than six billion people who inhabit the planet today is impossible without large-scale agriculture and industry and economic planning.

The fundamental problems confronting humanity today flow from the reality that most of the world’s productive wealth—the product of socialized labor and nature—is privately owned and controlled by a tiny minority. This minority decides what will be produced and what will not. Its decisions are based on making profits rather than meeting human needs.

There are really only two choices for humanity today: an increasingly destructive capitalism, or socialism.

The need for socialism, a system based on meeting people’s needs through common ownership of the productive wealth and a planned sustainable economy, becomes more urgent every day. Socialism can only be achieved by the conscious, organized and united action of the working class. To win, the working class needs its own party.

The Party for Socialism and Liberation was formed in the summer of 2004 by leading organizers and activists experienced in a wide range of struggles over the past four decades. We are moving forward with the task of building a revolutionary Marxist party based on the working class, and seek unity with all those who agree with our perspective. Such a party must not only look to a different future. It must be engaged in all of today’s struggles against oppression and exploitation.

The PSL is committed to the struggle for socialism. Under the current system, the big capitalist owners—a miniscule fraction of the population—dominate society. We fight for a society where the working class, the vast majority, holds power. Only when the tremendous wealth of society is owned by the many who created it, rather than the few who now hold legal title to it, will it be possible to speak about democracy in any realistic way.

In place of an economic system based on maximizing profits, we stand for an economy based on meeting people’s needs in a way that is environmentally sustainable. The resources exist to guarantee every person on Earth the right to employment, adequate food, clean water, health care, housing, education, cultural activities and more. But these basic needs will never be met as long as control of the productive wealth and resources remains in the hands of the capitalists.

Capitalism thrives on oppression and division along the lines of nationality, gender, sexual orientation, immigration status, age, ability/disability and religion. We seek a new society based on equality and solidarity among all people.

Instead of endless war, capitalist globalization, and imperialist domination, the PSL stands for international cooperation, friendship and respect for the rights of all peoples and nations, large and small.

None of these aims can be achieved without abolishing the capitalist system and replacing it with socialism.

So this morning I heard that minorities will be the majority by the year 2050. I bet the white, republican elderly nearly crapped their pants when they saw this.

Good. Will white Americans receive the same advantages that minorities do today? like Affirmative action.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.
