I filed for my spouse in april 2004 im a greencard holder and its taking forever, the current dates for august 2008 are doing oct 2003 now..does anyone know when april 2004 will be current??? and also can you tell me when the date goes current what does immigration do? do they call you right away give you a visa or make you wait? I live in the usa my spouse lives in his country in the east waiting for his I-130 PD to be current.

I think most people here are US citizens petitioning other relatives but it sounds like you're pretty close. I've heard that it takes about 5 years for a petition to be approved and once it is, the NVC will take care of the rest.

Just out of curiosity since your English sounds pretty good, why didn't you become a US citizen so you can get your spouse here faster and not have to wait over 4 years for a visa?

03/30/11 - N-400 sent via Priority Mail w/ delivery confirmation

05/12/11 - Biometrics

07/20/11 - Interview - passed

07/20/11 - Oath ceremony - same day as interview

Usually it is quicker to obtain Citizenship first, but with that backlog maybe not.

Once a Visa Number is available you will be in the normal queue, as with those who did not have to wait.
