I-864...at NVC

Hey VJ ppl ...I was going through consulate web site ...it states that form I-864 signature is NOTARIZED by petitioner and each family member applying for an immigrant visa must have an I-864 with an original, notarized signature.

It also states that ALL I-864 AND I-864A forms MUST include the income tax return (form 1040 and W-2) for the most recent year for each person. ..I got tax transcripts 2007, 06, 05& 2004.

What does that mean ..Do I need to all above when send ..864 ..to NVC....too much info confuses me lol ...

Where do I find Packet 4 on consulate web site???

I-864 is used only for IMMIGRANTS, that is CR-1, IR-1 visas OR when adjusting status from a K-Visa. I-864 or I-864A are NOT notarized.

I-134 is used for NON-Immigrant visas at the consulate. I-134 IS notarized.

I-864 is sent to NVC for CR-1 visas.

I-864 is used only for IMMIGRANTS, that is CR-1, IR-1 visas OR when adjusting status from a K-Visa. I-864 is NOT notarized.

I-134 is used for NON-Immigrant visas at the consulate. I-134 IS notarized.

I am going through CR-1 visa....How come its said that it needs to be notarized on consulate website...What's packet 4 ??What does it contain?

K3 beneficiaries will need a notarized I-134 each. An I-864, which does not have to be notarized, is only used for CR/IR visas and for AOS once the beneficiary files for it when they're in the US. If you are going for a K3 visa, you will only need the notarized I-134.

The consulate is quoting OLD information, I-864 used to be notarized up to 2 years ago, NOT anymore.

The Service also revised Form I-864 so that the sponsor now signs the Form “under penalty of perjury under the laws of the United States,” thus making it unnecessary to sign or acknowledge the Form I-864 before an officer authorized to administer oaths or take acknowledgements. The November 5, 2001[/b], edition of the Form I-864 still includes the notary's jurat block, for those who may wish to have the Form I-864 notarized. Under 28 U.S.C. 1746, however, signing before a notary is not necessary.

When in doubt go to the source of the document (I-864) it is a USCIS form, so rely on what USCIS says is the procedure for it.

Agree with YuandDan.....mostly likely old information. the 864 will go to NVC anyways after paying the Aff of Support fee bill.
