Hello All,

My wife's AOS is pending and we're a June 08 Filler. Our advance parole is still somewhere out there.

Can my wife and I go on a Cruise in Hawaii or Alaska?

I am aware that she is not able to travel abroad.

There is one cruise that Princess is offering its from Los Angeles to Hawaii but it stops in Ensenada Mexico before arriving in Los Angeles and I'm not sure if we can go to that cruise.

Any information will help.

Thank you.

Simple answer. You can go but your wife will be denied re-entry. A cruies into international water particularly with an international port of call is travelling abroad!

I'm not sure how that works really for a cruise bit i did watch some program before about how once the cruise ship leaves dock its no longer consider US Laws as for as crimes go on a cruise ship. Which is why there is more and more shows making ppl aware that if you are raped, robbed, murdered on a cruise its really up to the captain to be judge and jury. And most ppl get off scott free when comiting a crime at least the crew members are, some me get laid off and then reaply at other ships and nothing ever gets reported. Opps can you tell i dont trust cruises, sorry didnt mean to to get long winded.

Anyways since the cruise leave US land and waters it could be considered if you left in many ways so i would not chance it.

It's safe to go on a cruise if there is no chance of an international port of call. For instance, I'd stay away from a cruise to Puerto Rico that might have to run to a safe port in another country. Hawaii should be safe but a cruise to Alaska that stops in Mexico or Canada won't work for you.

Thanks for the comments.

Now that I think about it, I'll just remove going on a cruise on my vacation list.

Because if I went to Alaska and the Departure is in Seattle and something happens on the ship. We might have to land in Canada or something and my wife will be denied of re-entry.

Or if I went from Los Angeles to Hawaii and something happens that may force us to dock / port into another country.

:o

Not a good Idea.

I totally agree to what you say.

There is a cruise that is just local in Hawaii.

Thanks

Actually it is not quite that simple...

U.S. citizens traveling on cruises that begin and end in the same U.S. port must show proof of citizenship (such as an original or certified copy of a birth certificate) and a government-issued photo ID (such as a driver’s license). Effective June 1, 2009, U.S. citizens traveling on cruises that begin and end in different U.S. ports, or begin or end in a foreign port, must have a passport or other recognized document. For a complete list of accepted documents, see www.travel.state.gov.

U.S. Alien Residents need a valid Alien Resident Card. Canadian citizens must present a valid passport.

Non-U.S. citizens need a valid passport and a valid, unexpired U.S. Multiple Re-entry Visa, if applicable.

YMMV

Definitely! My husband and I went in Dec '07 on a Hawaii cruise, I was really worried ahead of time, but they said you are not going into any International port of call, so they only checked his Drivers license. I was worried the whole time, but when we entered the ship, all worries were gone!!! I spoke to someone at the honolulu port before departing. Just go...there are no restrictions. About alaska, i'm not sure, especially if you visit a Canandian port of call. Have fun, and make sure you get a balcony room :)

And u also dont need AP before going, as my husband didnt have it.
