The Packet 3 checklist issued from the US Embassy in London DOES NOT ask for identification for the USC. You DO NOT need to bring it or any copy of your USC fiance(e)'s identification to your K1 visa interview.

Just gather the items as listed on the checklist and you will be fine.

When you get packet 3, it will tell you what to bring. Bring what is on the list.

And this is the list http://www.usembassy.org.uk/cons_new/visa/iv/docs169.html

Interesting. I think the confusion (on my part, at least) arose because it was suggested that you bring the original I-129 petition with you (VJ advice). Combine that with the request for original evidence and bang, you have mistakenly brought your other half's birth certificate unnecessarily across the Atlantic!

Ah well, at least it's well traveled now.

I think that VJ bit about the original packet to the fiance is so she/he has study notes for those embassies that grill the interviewing fiance. They will know where his grandma lived when he was born, the name of his grade school, and other obscure data. (I'm kinda exaggerating, but some consulates are very tough.) London is very easy and we share the same language....well sorta.
