My wife just got her SSN with (Valid to work only with DHS Approval) written on there. She has learned that many of her friends were denied Texas Drivers License due to their SSN saying "Not Valid for Work" I am just wondering if it's worth our time and effort to goto the local DPS to apply for it since her SSN already says "valid for work" or should we apply for the Adjustment status and EAD at the same time???

Confused here.

Thanks!

If you read the primary identification requirements for a Texas DL or ID, you will have to wait till you get your Employment Authorization Card.

A SSN is an SSN regardless of what the restriction says... In theory the TX DPS should not care...

YMMV

Its not the SSN that's the problem, its the stamp about work! Texas wants you to be a PR or have an EAD before you can apply for an ID or DL. Florida has the same requirements.

EAD does not qualify you to remove this stamp from your card!
