the first few weeks are really hard! it does get easier once you and baby get to know each other better though. (L)

Hello ladies...soooooo sorry I have not posted. Yes I am the winner of the mommy to be contest. Taleen was born on August 16th at 9:30 pm, 8lbs 1 oz, 18.75 inches long. I was asleep and my water broke unexpectedly. I was rushed to the hospital for an emergency c-section because she was still breech. I ended up having a 4 day stay in the hospital because Taleen had jaundice. Other than that she is perfectly healthy and beautiful. My recovery from the c-section has been rocky as well but I am doing better now.

I really appreciate all of your concerns and prayers for me. I deeply apologize for not posting sooner. I never in a million years expected motherhood to be so overwhelming.

Well here is a picture of my princess....more to come later.

XOXOXOXOXO

Wow, what a beauty! Congratulations, JP!

I'm sorry to inform you that you didn't pop first, though (as if giving birth first was really a contest--sheesh!). Your Taleen and my Ilyas were born on the same day-- butIlyas was born at 8:14 in the morning! We have little birthday twins (and they share a birthday with my husband, Simo)!

As for recovery--hang in there, take lots of naps and just let yourself recover! After 10 days I am finally feeling so, so, so much more like myself now, but I had a vaginal delivery not a c-section. I know from watching my sister recovering from her c-section that you NEED to take it slowly and really let other people do things for you!

Mabrouk!

Carolyn

Here's little Ilyas in the hospital...

JP, she's a real beaut! Such a precious little bundle. I'm glad to see that you're alright. Take good care of yourself and let others dote on you if possible.

Carolyn - Ilyas is so handsome - he'll be the boy that all the girls make googly eyes at.

I'm very impressed with the MENA babies...they turn out spectacularly. Someday, when we have our own, our's will be 1/8 MENA, as my DH's grandmother is from ME; 1/4 Italian; 1/8 Spaniard/Argentine; and the other 1/2 will be my Heinz 57 American blend that I've got going on.
