Wow! What an experience! With the seizures, it sounds more like your preeclampsia proceeded to eclampsia. It was the reason I was born 4.5 weeks early. My mom was sedated for 3 days in the hospital after I was born in 1974. I am sorry that you didn't get more of a chance to recover in a clean and hygenic place.

Considering the experience, you have a gorgeous baby boy! Congrats!

Again, thanking everyone for their warm messages, prayers and thoughts.

Little update: My son is still janundiced ( I think there is more, but not sure) and I am still hemmoraging amoug all my other medical problems. Things with my husband aren't improving ... his family seems to mean more to them then us! I have asked my family for money ... to get our papers together so we can go to France to get the medical attention we need.

Thanking everyone for their dua'as, gifts and thoughts!

Prayers going out to you Kathleen!

Wow, what a story! I am so sorry to hear what you have had to go through. It is a shame that they would blame serious health issues on being a "spoiled foreign woman". Basically they are inept, and don't want to admit it. I am also sorry that your husband isn't supporting you the way a husband should. He doesn't realize, with the problems that you have had, that he is lucky to have a baby born alive, and a wife that survived it.

yr husband sounds like a fcuking idiot for allowing the situation to happen in the first place, and positively wretched for allowing it to continue. untreated, jaundice can cause brain damage in newborns. untreated, post-partum hemorrhage kills women in developing countries. this is ridiculous.

I dont think I would have worded it *quite* like this, Henia, but I do agree that there are and have been some serious medical issues for you in the last month and I find it surprising that your husband and his family have not been jumping at the opportunity for you to seek some better quality care both for yourself and the baby. Its true there are some serious repurcussions to leaving these conditions untreated, I really really hope you are able to get to a doctor or facility SOMEWHERE that is at the very least CLEAN and well equipped and able to treat your problems. Please take care and keep us posted.

I will not take offense to you calling my husband a fking idiot since I know you mean well ... but he is not idoit or cruel to me. He is merely not experienced in fatherhood ... or really any medical issues involving women but with the influence of the inlaws and the bad advice of doctors here I cannot really blame him for his thinking. He reads alot online, possing questions to the doctors but the replies are always the same: Nothing is wrong; your wife is imagining things for attention. Attention he knows I am not seeking ... but he is confused.

Morocco4ever said it so well; they are inept and donnot want to admit it here! Everything seems to be curable here by saying elhamdullah and rubbing olive oil on it LOLOL! A real ####### for me!

My inlaws are not making it any easier for me ... one minute telling me sit sit then the next yelling at me for the mile pile of clothes to be washed. Yesterday was the second time they had to restitch me, and everyone keep claiming its cos I drink Coca cola ... funny since becoming pregnant I have not drink a drop LOL! Also he is yellow since he has gas or I took him into the bathroom after sunset/maghreb LOL! They urge me to drink these werid hookey pookey teas concotion and put these herb all over the room, which I have to fight tooth and nail against.

And Sara my inlaws care more about their Algerian traditions and why my husband has not done all the traditions of new babies; rather then my health. If anything is wrong; its cos I made Allah mad or as they qadr Allah/will of God ;;; or cos I donnot wear socks in 80deg weather etc. All nonsense!

Anyway my husband has agreed to the trip to France and has piled the paperwork for my son to go. Not sure how it will take but I hope not long. We have not told any of the family somehow the person at the town hall spilled the beans and everyone is mad at me now claiming I want to take him away. LOL! My who sent me the money for the trip is also mad, saying I should have never went to Algeria ... maybe she is right! But too late now!

*I want to thank everyone for the prayers!

Henia...I hope that you get things cleared up. I almost bled to death two weeks after I had my son and ended up passing out in a pile of blood in the bathroom and being taken by squad to the hospital and had transfusions. Don't let it get that far if you are having postpartum bleeding...believe me, the doc said in another hour or so they would have lost me and it happened so quick there was no thinking about it. So, keep a watch at how much you are losing.
