Henia - OMG, OMG, OMG!!!! I am in total shock for your experience. I am so sorry that you went through all that. I think I would have just closed up my legs and said, "I'll have the baby at home." Good Lord, what you went through is a nightmare! I am just glad that you and the baby are well. I pray that you heal up well and that little Youcef has no problems. God bless you!

After experiencing medical care in Argentina last year, I could have a baby down there...but anywhere else, I would say that I want to be in my the good ole USA.

(((((((((((((((((((Henia & Baby Youcef))))))))))))))))))) Be well.

Congratulations Henia. Working where I do in healthcare those conditions are just astonishing! Cats are allowed in a hospital??? And were allowed to eat your placenta? That's soooooo gross! Reminds me though of a crunchy friend I had who insisted on giving birth at home with a midwife and she and her husband actually ATE the placenta after she gave birth. They sauteed it with some garlic, onions, etc. Apparently they read that years ago people would do that to give the mother strength after giving birth. BLECH.

mashallah henia that baby is absolutely beautiful! I can't imagine how relieved you must be to have all of that trauma over with!!! Even in a 3rd world country they should know what is considered clean in a hospital! I'm appauled. It seems they treated u so rudely coz ur a foreigner. How in the world do they have so many healthy children there if they don't even know how to take a blood pressure!!!! omg i could just rip them apart!

anyway congratulations again and don't let those ppl run all over you. You take the time you need to bond with that baby. Tell him all his aunties in vj send hugs and kisses lol :)

Henia, congratulations on your precious little boy! I hope you start feeling better and the in-laws start behaving themselves soon.

Thanks for your very candid account of what happened during your labor and delivery. My husband always talks about moving back to Algeria someday, and although I'd love to visit more often, I don't think I'd like to live there. The different hygiene and medical standards are a couple of reasons why, although my husband insists that most of the medical care is perfectly fine. I'm going to tell him about your experience.

I'm glad everything turned out ok and that things are getting back to normal. I hope you'll share more pictures with us soon!
