I just had a friend (fellow VJer) message me to see these posts! Thank you everyone for the concern! I am very touched ... esp since no one here seems to give a s##t!

Your advice is good actually K, something I am just too confused and in pain to think about ... going to *try* this out!

I am glad your husband was in the end there for you! Very good least for him, this stupid ### cultural BS of not having the husband in/around the birth was broken for you and Kelly too! Bravo to both of your husbands! My husband wants to be at the birth, buuuuuut he has tried from every angle even giving brides (something he doesn't normally do) but no one is goes for this! Basically as I said before, foreigner = a big FK you here! (Unless you pay them an outrageous amount of bride money, and I mean really outrageous!!!)

Husband has been very supportive, which I am thankful for! He was at one point before me going into labour being a jerk ... cos of my in-law and her interfering in everything I do! He is now great ... trying his best to make me comfortable .... but poor guy is helpless!

Seriously, right now I feel violent ... normally am not! But how these people are behaving it has just peeved me to the max! And all my in-laws coming to "visit" even thou I told everyone to leave me alone! I am really not in the mood for entertaining and asnwering questions! In-law supposely "helping" me out is stressing me out more then anything ... comments, pushing, giving stupid advice, asking why I am on the phone (with my friends who care), why I am not drinking tea (#######) and worrying about people robbing us(her) while my husband and I are out at the hospitals!

Sorry for venting ... I am just crying, screaming and in pain! Sorry! And thanks everyone! I wish my mum was here! And/or some of my good friends! (husband here and daughter but I feel alone!) Hugs everyone!

Henia (((((((((((((((((((((((Henia)))))))))))))))))))))))))) Damn girl, I wish I was there for you to run interference with everyone - I'd probably offend the world and tell them to stick the tea where the moon doesn't shine. :protest::protest::protest: I'd even take you to the embassy and tell them what was going on - I just have such an empathy for you right now. Bless you honey.

Henia,

thinking of you and sending you good vibes.

Call the embassy - have a screaming freak out - do what you have to but be safe and know we are all here pulling for you.

Kat - so much of your life is chaotic and well, not good right now but thanks GOD for your healthy and beautiful baby boy. Many blessings on him and you :)

Hello everyone!

First off would like to congrats to Samira and Kath on their precious babies! I love both names they picked out! And then secondly, I would like to thank everyone for the posts, SMSs, emails and PMs! And amin to all the prayers!

Sorry I have not been online, but just been hard few days! Like I said before, no doctors during Ramadans, even the interns and nurses seem to be MIA! My husband has taken me now to 3 hospitals trying to get admitted but no luck! We donnot have any connections and with doctor to exam me they will call it "emergency" to admit me! Still waiting on the doctor (who my friend in the US knows) to get back to me so I can get admitted in the military hospital!

I have been in "labour" now 2 days ... contractions now up to every 5m ... but my water hasn't broke and contractions same (5m) for 1,5 day now! Pain is something else I tell you! We went (again) last night after I started having some "blood" ... the woman there didn't even check me but was more concerned about "how I got my husband his papers" then my pregnancy. No one checked me internally and barely looked at my pregnancy paperwork! Would not let my husband in, since it's forbidden to let husbands in the maternity area! #######! And my in-law who is staying with us to help me out, was more concerned about someone stealing from our house, so of course she couldn't come! Again #######! All these people are disappointing me beyond belief. People are inhuman here!

I had my husband look online for any and all ways to progress the birth ... eating pineapple, breast stimulation, etc but nothing so far is working! At the hospital, the woman told me to drink some tea and go home ... since as she said "We have no room for you" meaning you are a foreigner, fk you!

I really wish we had gotten a better back-up plan ... like not having this baby HERE! Can you imagine being in labour and a so-called medical profession asking you "Are you going to have the baby here?" No ... I am just here for fun, to gossip about my personal life (how I got my husband his "papers") then when I am ready I am to jump in my Concord and have the baby in some chic private clinic in the US! LOLOL I wish, believe me I really wish right now!

Can't wait to see some more baby pix! Congrats again to the new mums!

I will tell you what to do but it will make some people nutty.GO TO THE AMERICAN EMBASSY AND SIT THERE AND TELL THEM YOU ARE IN LABOR. When the american embassy gets on the phone to the hospital MIRACULOUSLY you will be admitted. PULL THE I AM A AMERICAN CARD. .. This is the one time it will work and matter. Call the Americans today.

Unfortunately, every one will show his ### today and in labor. I am so glad you messaged us. I think you are at the point you need to call the AMERICAN EMBASSY and scream for help. You are American. They are supposed to help Americans in crisis.. If you are in labor in their lobby, someone will get off their ### and help you..

Yes I would do that Henia ! WE are praying for you !!!

The I am AMERICAN works sometimes. I was in quebec the summer before I met my husband on vacation with Zahra and rented a car. I accidentally drove on the wrong side of the road ( one way street) A cop turned his sirens on and when he stopped me , I said. I AM AMERICAN I AM AMERICAN. He smiled and let me go. PLAY THE I AM AMERICAN CARD. Pop alot of gum and cry alot and do the doe eyes and be loud. It works. Nothing worse than a cute American like Henia crying and saying I am AMERICAN please help me. TRUST ME>> THE EMBASSY WILL HELP WITH THIS. They make phone calls for their citizens. ITs the one time being American will help. They even have embassy drs that can help. Today is JUMAH so they are closed but they will be open first thing but there is an american embassy emergency line. They were wonderful with my medical expedite and helping my husband get over here

Henia.. How far are you from the Tunisian border? My husband's family lives right there, near Ghardiemon in Jendouba - the hospitals there are great and my mother in law is a midwife, she's delivered 30 babies or more and is best friends with two of the OB's at the Jendouba hospital - Jihed's Uncle goes into Algeria several times a week for gas and food (cheaper there)

CAN I HELP YOU in ANY way!!!????? PM me PLEASE I'll do whatever I can!!!

I have already called and just spoke to Momma , if we can pull this off, they will help ! You can stay in the family home, Momma, Jihed's grandmother and sister will help you, and you can stay with them after the hospital if you need to for a few days.... his cousin is there in the same home and she speaks English, you will be comfortable and they will take care of you, I promise!!! If you have an American passport going over the border shouldn't be a problem for you, if it is I can make other phone calls and fix that as well.. Please please let me know, my heart is breaking for you those are deplorable conditions and I can't believe that any pregnant woman no matter where she's from would go through that!

Please let me know!!??!!!

Kat said exactly what I was thinking as I was reading this. I can't imagine that they can't help you. Best of luck!

'Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Chardonnay in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming 'WOO HOO, What a Ride'

Oh Henia, I'm sending you lots of hugs. I feel so badly for you right now and you have been in my prayers. Please take the advice the other girls gave you and get help. You really worry me. If you need anyone else to talk to then send me your phone number and I will be happy to call and talk to you. This is not something you should have to face alone.

HAha! I love the spikey hair in the last one!

BTW I lost on the middle name thing.... LOL When it came time for the birth cert in the hospital I was too exhausted to argue with him about it again! Oh well...I will let her fight that battle on her own with her dad when she is old enough to protest it!

Oh, that sucks! Oh well. Meanwhile Ammar says we can give the girls middle names that are female (well, he wants my name as their middle name) and I don't know about that. My name doesn't fit well as a middle name, I don't think anyway. And I wasn't even asking about it-- I was asking about it for your situation LOL!

None of my posts have ever been helpful. Be forewarned.
