Oh I forgot....a few things about my husband:

He insists on waiting until a certain part of the call to prayer is done before eating. I understand it (it's the shahada) but OMG those last 10 seconds are a KILLER!!!!!!! I literally have the glass of juice to my lips when it starts so I'll be ready. lol.

He thinks it's really strange that I drink while I eat.

He HATES leftovers. I find that fascinating since he grew up so poor but they never ever ate leftovers. I would think they'd always have them to save money!

Wadi likes to drink a smoothie first thing (if he's home for iftar). I don't know how he downs it so fast, it would give me brain freeze.

Oh and we love leftovers - when I cook, I usually plan for at least 2 meals. What's the idea behind hating leftovers? The food is not fresh anymore or what?

I dunno but a *suggestion* was made that perhaps I could actually make the food fresh when he gets home from work (at 11:30pm!!). I told him we don't have suggestion boxes in this house. lol He just doesn't like the taste of the food when it's been microwaved. I agree with some foods, like those cooked with filo dough, pasta, french fries, etc. but imho when you're starving, food is food is food.

Ah, yes, the microwave. Wadi doesn't like it much either. He insists that even milk warmed in the microwave for his latte tastes different than when it's warmed on the stove. I think I should test that with him because I don't really buy it...

If we have leftovers, we always reheat on the stovetop or in the oven. If I eat before him (he often gets in late as well), I'll just throw the whole pot or whatever in the fridge and he takes it out when he gets home and warms it.

I have a blender. I bet I could master smoothies. I am already the Fritatta Queen. :luv:

Yes, smoothies are great! We just throw whatever we have in there - last night I think it was pears, peaches, bananas, and avocado.

my favorite:

1 cup vanilla yogurt

1 cup frozen fruit (normally strawberries or mangoes)

1 banana

dump it all in the food processer, pour, drink. :)

My husband loves those drinks with the avacados. He puts in apples, milk, sugar, and avacados. He loves them but I just can't stomach them. Now put them on enchilladas de camerones and you will catch my attention.

(Opps, sorry, fasting people will hurt me)

Yes, avocados are one of those foods chock-full of vitamins apparently. Like nuts, oysters and clams. I'm sure they're healthy and whatnot, but he has very strong opinions about their nutritional benefit.

ETA: I would not recommend making an oyster smoothie.

We love a good avocado smoothie! I make them pretty regularly around our house. However, I prefer them for suhoor b/c they are so dang filling! I can go hours on one of those! And yes, avocados are a SUPER FOOD! :star:

eta: Oh yea, we also usually add a date as well - extra fiber & sweetness! YUM

How about a clam one, then?

Avacado in a smoothie? Who'da thunk it.

Vanilla yogurt, banana and frozen fruit...thx doods. Add sugar?

I don't but I forgot the most important ingredient...1 cup orange juice. Otherwise that smoothy will not even come out of the blender. lol. Sorry!!! My kids btw prefer one or two splenda in it to make it sweeter.

I'm hungry now :crying:

I know we shouldn't talk about hunger but seriously I'm so starving this past hour I've been fighting not throwing up it's so bad. That's how it's been the past 3 or 4 days for me....nauseau bigtime from not eating and feeling like I'm gonna faint dead away at least 5 or 6 times a day. I know it's because I'm not eating suhoor though. I have to take my thyroid pills on an empty stomach and wait an hour before eating and there is no way in heck that I'm waking up to take meds and then sitting around waiting to eat an hour later.

Medication in Ramadan should be it's own thread I tell ya. It's so difficult to manipulate when to take what pill. My water pills I normally take in the am but the dr said nothing with the thyroid pill so I take it at night which means yours truly is waking up to pee every two hours. Alhumdulilah for it all.:dance::dance:

(it's funny 'cause when my hubby gets home I always say how was work and he always says "alhumdulilah for everything my love" but that could mean good or bad! lol)
