Me too. Honestly, is anyone here going to say that they would go on a date with someone whom they were physically repelled by? If I were to ask if your SO is attractive, would you say, "Um...well...they have a great personality! They're beautiful on the inside! But...I find them physically revolting..." I'm sure your SO would LOVE to hear that!

Yes, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but I think it is safe to assume that the vast majority of people choose to be with people whom they personally behold as beautiful, not people whom they personally behold as ugly, however they might define that. And, yes, what's inside is more important, we get that. But we are not simply spiritual entites; we are also physical beings. Like it or not, our physical characteristics are part of the package, and most people take that into consideration when evaluating to whom they are attracted. Perhaps we should be completely blind to a person's physical attributes and focus 100% on what's inside, but it's completely unrealistic to expect people to do that, it is contrary to human nature. Perhaps there are some who can do that. Well, they are far holier than I, and I'm willing to bet, than 99.9999% of humanity.

I love Bourdain! In one of his books he talks about what made him want to become a chef.

I don't remember it exactly but I think this is how it went...

He was working as a dishwasher in a restaurant when he was a teen. They were doing a big wedding reception that night and he went outside to dump some oil from the fryer into the fat vat. He looked over and the chef had the bride bent over the dumpter banging her. He said at that moment he knew he wanted to be a chef.

Loved him ever since I read that book!

Anthony Bourdain does it for me too. I think because he kind of reminds me of Leonard Cohen. In my opinion, Leonard is the sexiest man alive.
