I dont understand, Ive lived here in the U.S. all my life and never had a problem having rice. It's everywhere.

Yeah, its actually all over the place, every grocery store, every restaurant, so I don't get it either.

we have rice a couple times a week..

I bought this cheap little rice cooker for 10 bucks at Walgreens over a year ago.. it works great

makes perfect rice every time... and it makes just enough for 2 or 3 people...

Hi vjs,

:crying: :crying: :crying:

Just want to say.. I am missing Rice.. I have soar throat and im alone...what i did.. i got my nails done.. and went to the nearest mexican store that serves rice for breakfast, i dunno how to do a burrito though.. :crying: ,, I hope i can get used to it...

.. i suggest that you should bring a good manicure set.. coz its really expensive.. but hey when you get to have it done, got to the vietnamese they have much cheaper price..and i had a nice manicure...

You'll find rice everywhere. However, you gotta get used to burritos, tacos, and chimichangas, too. These are staples here, especially in the valley!!! :star::star::star:

Try the jasmin rice, milagrosa rice tawag natin sa pinas. If you live in Burbank, there is a filipino grocery named Seafood City Supermarket in Van Nuys. You can buy daing, bagoong, itlog maalat, bangus, ligo sardines, pancit canton, sinigang mix, etc. It will take you around 15-20 minutes to get there. Here is the address:

8231 Woodman Ave

Los Angeles, CA

Use yahoo maps, if you do not have GPS to get the directions from your place. There is also one in Eagle Rock but I cannot find the address right now.

wow thank yoiu, parang naglaway naman ako dun sa Seafood City. we live in Chatsworh but all the same..:D we'll go there.. salamat po..

Mare try Jasmine rice. ang bango na masarap pang kainin...lol

Try the thai jasmine rice that you can find at almost every grocery store and you don't have to buy rice cooker yet. You can use pot to cook your rice on the gas range/stove. I think my grandma used to do that before and I also did camping in PI when my classmate used pot to cook our rice. You can also try rice-a-roni, easy to cook with some added flavor too!

Did you buy it at 99 Ranch Market located at the Chinese Cultural Center just outside Sky Harbor? They got good stuff there; everytime I'm in Phoenix, I always make it a point to stop by that store to pick up some cooked food and bring it to my room at my favorite hotel, La Quinta Suites & Inns in Mesa. Pardon my frugality, but I'm a G.I. (Genuine Ilocano), you know!! Wish you and Riza happiness and success there in the Southwest. :star::star::star:

i dont miss rice!!!!what i miss is tutuong!!!!!!!

We are just observing.. There were some who pretends to be newbie but to our surprise, eventually they knew lots of things about particular people in VJ..

One could browse this site and forums for years and not make an account. Then one day decide to create one and become a newbie but familiar with a lot of members.

What's your point? Why dont you just stop making assumptions and go straight down to the point?

Nah I just got it at the regular store. The chinese cultural center is a little far from my home, figure 40 miles or so. There's a good chinese market no t as far away, But, I didn't go there either.

In my family here in the States we typically only eat rice when eating Chinese or Thai and that is my Mom only, I've never seen my Dad eat rice, he's a typical "meat and potatoes" guy. After living in PI/Manila for three months I've grown more accustomed to rice. I know when my honey arrives we'll eat rice as much as we would in the Philippines, maybe twice a day.

I am also excited about cooking "American" meals for her such as a nice, juicy steak or baked Turkey with all the trimmings or Lobster. Bottom line, we'll share foods from each others culture because I love her chicken adobo, pancit and other dishes.

Thoughts on your favorite Pinoy or American dishes/foods?
