Do you have to have the name in your passport match the name on the DS-230?

We sent in the I-130 with my married name on it and we want this on all my US documents, but I need to know if I should get my passport changed to reflect my new name since we'll use it to apply for the DS-230 or if it's o.k. to use the passport with my maiden name in it.

If anyone knows the answer please let me know!

I don't think it matters..just that i think u should have some kind of ID in the name that ur using..passport is really when ur traveling ..remember not to book the ticket under ur married name if ur passport has ur maiden name

Agree with Hotlegz; your married cert should tie everything together.

for convienience you may wish to change your passport now before relocating ... but it is your choice as others have mentioned there are "work arounds"

Thanks for the replies. I went and applied for a new one today. Might as well get it out of the way since I plan to use my married name.

I applied the DS230 with my married name. Then I used my passport to go down with my madien name. The time that you need to change your madien name is when you apply for a soc card and drivers licenses.

Then make sure you change all your id's now or you will be committing fraud. That is what my DMV told me. All the best.
