My husband needs police clearance from EVERY country he has lived for more than 6 months since the age of 16. Well, he is an undocumented worker in Swaziland. Frankly, so was I. He has no criminal record and always put in a visa before coming into the country, but the Swazi police will not issue a police clearance unless they see a work permit. We tried for years to get one. No go. Is there anything we can do, or will I have to live in Mozambique?

Have you tried going to the police station with the letter from the US government requesting the police cert? That might help... If the refusal is due to official policy, talk to the local US embassy, they may be able to help.

Thanks for the advice. We actually tried to go through the local US embassy first for this police clearance with a Swazi who works there and used to work for the Swazi police. He proved to be no help. He did not seem to be willing to use any connections. I don't know if there is a way to get a letter from here in the US.
