Remember the whole blue or black ink issue?

When we were getting ready to file for the K1 visa years ago, I read that someone had their application refused because their signature looked like a photo copy or something like that. Does this stuff still happen? I am just wondering so that we know we are safe signing in black.

Might seem like a stupid question but if it makes the difference then it isn't stupid.

You are safe to sign in black. It is standard practice for Legal documents to be signed in black.

Why not just sign in blue? It's so much easier than posting a thread asking and monitoring replies.

Whatever color you use, use a ballpoint and put it on a somewhat soft surface, like a thick magazine. And press fairly hard when you sign. That way, your signature gets "embossed" onto the document. The "embossing" can be seen from the back, if not both sides. You don't need to go overboard with this, just enough to show that the signature is original.

And there's no harm in using dark blue ink.

Don't give them an excuse to claim your signature looks like it might not be original.

Hmm...I thought that it had to definately be in black in as it clearly states on the top of the I-751 application form: "Please type or print in black ink". So I guess in the USCIS' eyes, it does make a difference as to what colour ink you use. Picky, aren't they? Lol...thank goodness we can use different colours and fonts here on VJ.

And yes, make sure that you press hard enough on the paper so that it is clearly readable. Oh and if you press down hard enough, it can be read backwards from the other side, like backwards braille, I suppose.
