I haven't been to Starbucks in a long time. Probably haven't been since I last lived in London which was in December 2006. In the mornings when I went to work there were just loads of suits walking around like zombies getting coffee. If I went in the afternoon it was ladies with their babies. Evenings I really don't remember.

Yeah the Starbucks near me (and near where I work) is full of suits in the morning and during lunch. Mid-day is when the MILFs arrive where I work. Mid-days are empty at the Starbucks where I live... I guess cuz this is a middle class town and everyone works.

People in England don't really "hang out" at Starbucks in my experience. They have pubs for that and since a pint of lager costs the same as a starbucks coffee, it's far preferable! We need proper pubs in this country is what I say.

Yeah I never really saw people hanging out in there. The only times I really ever saw people sitting down is if they were actually eating something or if they were sitting feeding their baby.

Life is a ticket to the greatest show on earth.

A "Conservative" Coffee Shop - How f*cking ridiculous.

Given the crowd that hangs out at Starbucks, I don't think it's ridiculous at all. Hell, I'm more liberal than conservative and the clientele of Starbucks makes ME want to puke sometimes.

Why is it so ridiculous to have a conservative coffee shop? Don't you think conservative people would like to have a place to have a coffee and conversation with like-minded people too?

 I'm not sure I understand why "like minded people" feel that they can't relax in a Starbucks/Seattle's Best/Coffee Bean? Can't people mind their own business when it comes to what others talk about?

Would you horn in on someone's conversation in a coffee shop or restaurant because you don't like their politics? I wouldn't...

I mean... there's no sign on the front of those places that says "Conservatives #### off"

You've obviously never been in the Starbucks near where I work. Groups meet there and discuss LOUDLY political topics; most recently a Pro-Obama group. Previously there has been a LGBT group, a black pride-type group, and other groups that might make conservative sorts cringe and want to run to their nearest non-liberal bar.

But why do you care?

Those people don't own the place. Neither do you.

The Starbucks near where I work is awesome during weekday summer afternoons. It's full of young hot MILFs with their babies.

The ones I've been to are full of business men and women, having informal business meanings. I feel nauseous.

Why, did all of them send you your resume back? :jest:

Yeah...they took one look at my school, "Liberal Art College?" and hand it right back. I need to open me a coffee shop with sign that says, 'Shoes, No Service.'

The cafe at my college had a "No Shirt, No Shoes, No Service" sign. A friend of mine added a sign that said, "Pants Optional" :P

Isn't a pub just a bar?

Like there's a shortage of bars around here? There isn't. But it's a very different crowd, mostly blue collar.

A pub in the British sense isn't quite the same as the typical bar in America. Bars here tend to be places where people go to get drunk anonymously, hence the low lighting that is often used. Pubs are more of a social gathering place for a community. I'm not comfortable in most bars, but the more pub-like ones are fine.

I don't really care for Starbucks. It's not that I have anything against the chain itself or their coffee, but it's the clientele that pisses me off. In general, you'll find the "Look at me, I'm so hip since I'm here sipping on my double-whammy white mocha latte with skim milk and pumpkin seasonings and pretending to be hard at work on something incredibly important."

You know what I say to these people? Screw you. It's coffee. Get over it.

You're not cool or uncool due to what you drink. If you think holding a cup of hot steaming liquid in your hand suddenly makes you "trendy," then you have other issues, none of which can be solved by hiding behind the veil of caffeinated beverages.

I also hate it when people take their laptops there and attempt to seriously work (or at least give that impression) on whatever they're doing, but not get interrupted by others. You're in a public place, jerkoff! If you want privacy, go home! People can and will be moving about and probably talking too. It's not a damn library.

Honestly, I don't even know why anyone would want to sync up with the wireless networks Starbucks has, since I doubt they're very secure at all. Believe it or not, I've seen people accessing their bank information while there. Anyone who does that deserves to be both disturbed by others and have their machine compromised. Use a little common sense.

I don't like Starbucks because I think it is overpriced.

Honestly, I don't get the impression that anyone in Starbucks is really trying to use their presence there to make some kind of statement about himself, i.e. look how rich I must be to afford chai latte! Go Obama!, anymore than someone in Dunkin Donuts is trying to make a statement about himself, i.e. I don't need any fancy coffee! Give me my cuppa joe before I go make some steel! Go McCain!

I have to laugh at this idea that we have to have conservative counterpoints to anything and everything that we can think of. People that come up with these ideas have really lost the plot IMO.

I mean... do "conservatives" really feel so aggrieved or hard done by that they daren't show their faces in public places!? I mean... we are talking about public places here... Don't like someone's conversation? Why not start your own?

Unless.... they haven't lost their minds but know that others have and are exploiting it to make a few bucks.

A "few" bucks is right. Good luck to the guy growing that particular business model... He'll need it...
