Well he's basically saying that certain kinds of conversations "won't be tolerated".

Maybe I'm missing something, but I don't see it.

I do see this, however:

The decor may poke fun at liberals, but Beckham said they were welcome in his establishment.

I haven't either - but then again I don't make a point of listening to people's conversations, nor do I expect the proprieter and staff to be policing them...

I'm the same way. But then I'm the oblivious type, I notice very little.

A "Conservative" Coffee Shop - How f*cking ridiculous.

Given the crowd that hangs out at Starbucks, I don't think it's ridiculous at all. Hell, I'm more liberal than conservative and the clientele of Starbucks makes ME want to puke sometimes.

Why is it so ridiculous to have a conservative coffee shop? Don't you think conservative people would like to have a place to have a coffee and conversation with like-minded people too?

 I'm not sure I understand why "like minded people" feel that they can't relax in a Starbucks/Seattle's Best/Coffee Bean? Can't people mind their own business when it comes to what others talk about?

Would you horn in on someone's conversation in a coffee shop or restaurant because you don't like their politics? I wouldn't...

I mean... there's no sign on the front of those places that says "Conservatives #### off"

I have never heard a political conversation in Starbucks. Most of the music I hear there is the same fodder I hear on the local adult contemporary station. So what if people enjoy going there and working on their computer or reading a book on their days off? Big effeing deal - I mean seriously, some people need to get a grip.

Anyways, for some reason I am reminded of this clip

McPhee doesn't feel comfortable in trendier coffeehouses, where he often doesn't agree with the political conversations.

Open question to VJers:

How many of you have ever heard a political conversation in a Starbucks? And by that I mean, how many times have other patrons engaged in a political discussion and you actually listened in?

I can say I've never heard a political opinion expressed in a Starbucks. I can also honestly say I am 100% positive the reason I haven't is because I just don't listen to anyone.

Me neither. I agree with Numer 6 - to suggest Starbucks attracts liberal clientele more than conservative is silly. They might tend to be more bohemian, but that really doesn't say much about their political views.

Maybe this niche cafe is for people who don't know how to mind their own business?

The Starbucks' on Wall Street don't attract too many liberals.

But the Starbucks' on and near the Princeton U. campus do.

So maybe it isn't Starbucks but the location?

You've obviously never been in the Starbucks near where I work. Groups meet there and discuss LOUDLY political topics; most recently a Pro-Obama group. Previously there has been a LGBT group, a black pride-type group, and other groups that might make conservative sorts cringe and want to run to their nearest non-liberal bar.

Lady, people aren't chocolates. Do you know what they are mostly? Bastards. ####### coated bastards with ####### filling. But I don't find them half as annoying as I find naive bobble-headed optimists who walk around vomiting sunshine.

The Starbucks near where I work is awesome during weekday summer afternoons. It's full of young hot MILFs with their babies.

"Coffee gets us through our workday. It's what we drink before we make steel for the rest of the country or head out into the fields."

:rofl::rofl:

Only a tree hugging hippie would laugh at that.

I read that line like 6 times before I laughed. The first few times I thought #######? Then, I was like...ugh really? Then the laughter came.

Thank god this place is at the other end of the state from me.

The ones I've been to are full of business men and women, having informal business meanings. I feel nauseous.

Yeah...they took one look at my school, "Liberal Art College?" and hand it right back. I need to open me a coffee shop with sign that says, 'Shoes, No Service.'

I haven't been to Starbucks in a long time. Probably haven't been since I last lived in London which was in December 2006. In the mornings when I went to work there were just loads of suits walking around like zombies getting coffee. If I went in the afternoon it was ladies with their babies. Evenings I really don't remember.
