Well, well.........look who showed up today

:pop: Oh yeah....you're cracking me up today!!

Don't blame your foul mood on me!

Hey Mindy.

"They" didn't even look at Damien's letter...just his passport with the stamp in it. I was nervous as well.

Hope you had a nice trip.

Stamp? An infopass stamp?

We got both our passports scanned in the US and in Jamaica. They also scanned his expired green card.

I was a bit nervous when "they" were reading and re-reading the NOA1.....but, in the end. Everything worked out just fine.

You would think  that with all the technology and the "chips" that are in the passports and GC that there should be no need for you to travel with that silly piece of paper.

Well, well.........look who showed up today

Yeah, USCIS took forever to mail his NOA1 so we made an infopass appointment the day the GC expired. They took the card from us and put I-55 (something like that) stamp in his passport. We eventually got the NOA with "duplicated" stamped all over it. We never received the orginal.

With a stamp, they wouldn't need to see the NOA at all. It's pretty much the same thing.

JG - I was writing MY experience. I realize it's the same thing but still nervous without the actual card.

Yeah, I realized that too.

My point was the OP has the NOA to use. No need for them to make an appointment to get a stamp. And, I didn't want them to not take the letter with them because in their case it is important to use it to travel with the GC and passport.

Life's just a crazy ride on a run away train

You can't go back for what you've missed

So make it count, hold on tight find a way to make it right

You only get one trip

So make it good, make it last 'cause it all flies by so fast

You only get one trip

My husband's greencard expires November 23rd 2008, and he wants to go to Morocco for the holidays in the beginning of December. I didn't even consider that his greencard is a problem. We are putting the paperwork together to remove conditions and are going to file at the end of this month. However, I've heard that it takes longer than 3 months sometimes. How can I plan my husband's trip without knowing if he'll even be allowed to leave the country? What should I do?

I travelled to my home country with an expired greencard, NOA and I551 stamped on my passport. No questions asked when I got back and my immigration process was completed in less than a minute. I would suggest putting the NOA and expired greencard on the passport page that has the I551. Always better to hold on to the expired greencard since it was used as proof in other countries even though it was expired, the best way to get I551 stamped and to keep the greencard is to do the I551 stamping before the greencard expiry date. You can avoid lot of unnecessary questions at airlines counter, immigration at other countries etc if you hold onto your expired greencard.
