Just wanted to give you guys a short info about my today's experience in obtaining a driver's license in Virginia:

I was able to get a Virginia's Driver's license today after showing them

-proof of residency ( I used a bank statement of our joint bank-account)

-SSN - card

-verification letter stating that my German Driver's license is valid and good to go (I had to fax a form along with a copy of my German license to the DMV in Richmond, after that I received the confirmation letter)

-passport

-I-94

-marriage certificate

Good news is that I got the driver's license.

Bad news is that it will expire on the date my I-94 expires, which is in a month from now

Unfortunately I noticed that after I got back home, the big grin on my face sure enough vanished when I saw the expiration date.... :bonk:

So, when will I be able to renew the license ?? Once I get NOA1 for the AOS, or after getting the EAD or what??

I wished I had seen the stupid expiration date when I was at the DMV today....

Anybody any idea?

Thanks a million!

You can renew once you receive the NOA1 -- which means that your presence in the U.S. is known to USCIS, and you are taking steps to be able to stay legally. Once you receive your green card, you will renew it once more and your new one will be valid until the date shown on the green card for its expiration.
