Ok pls help...I'm calling DOS

Most of you know the story of Waleed being taken into the Egyptian Military and me being in school having to wait until August to do anything about moving petitions through immigrations.

I sent an email to the embassy last week to check on the status of our application because Waleed turned in packet 3 back in April.

They replied back:

Dear Madam,

We will notify you of Mr. Aly's appointment.

That didn't really tell me anything.

Since it's two weeks before school starts I thought I'd give calling DOS a shot. It's my first time. As some of you know I'm a bit shy with those in person and have trouble picking up the thousand pound telephone.

I've spent the better half of my morning trying to call DOS. I went in circles listening to all of the automated choices at length sometimes repeating the options but when I finally get to the point where you can talk to a visa specialist I get the message, "We're sorry all of our visa specialist are currently busy at the moment please hang up and try again."

I'm frustrated and wondering if I have the right combinations of numbers.

What numbers do you use calling DOS and do you get through right away or does it take you several attempts?

When you do finally reach someone what do you ask or how do you say it?

Do you just say, "I'm calling to check the status of my petition?"

What kind of information are they looking for so you can get the best information back?

Which Number are you calling?? (603) 334-0700??? Usually on Mondays it is quiet Busy!! I been telling to call them too, but keep hitting that redail button. Once you hear that man's voice hit 1 then 5. If they are busy then keep trying!!! Don't be shy they don't bite, they are quiet nice at NVC..... Good Luck!!!

I've been calling the DOS number (202) 663-1225 then #1, #4, #2, #3, #2, #0

I don't know if that's right but I kinda get lost at what they consider a K3.

Is that number you call for a K-3?? or that a number you call if you are in AP?? I am not sure what exactly that number is for?

I think that's the number you call when you get to the embassy level past the NVC.

I thought so too. That is the way it was done when I went through the process. Have you tried NVC yet Olivia?

I haven't tried NVC. Maybe I should try them. I think our case has slipped through the cracks during the immigration transitions in the last year.

Anyone got NVC number? Hmmm... Maybe I can find my NOA's and look on them for it...

Wow calling the NVC is a much easier operating system than calling DOS. However, all the NVC operators are busy assisting other customers as well.

I am having an acute case of deja vu today. It's like I've dreamed this day before and dreamed about posting this thread and Nita responding, and several other things happening today.

Just wow Deja Vu several times in one day today.

The other thing is I have this impending sense of doom. Like bad news coming.
