Thats putting it mildly. I actually cringed at some parts of that interview, I know 5th graders that could have done better.

That's kind of what offends me most about him - he clearly, obviously, doesn't have the slightest clue what he's talking about, so he pulls words out of the air and strings them together with point-scoring buzzwords - almost like some bad corporate manager with "a business is..." metaphors.

It doesn't make any kind of sense - so he has to fall back on this idea that he's a nice, fun guy.

Yes, thats exactly what he does, and he's not even good at it. Some bullshitters can pull it off well, this one comes across as being plain dumb and not really giving a s**t about it.

I guess it does depend on what view- if any, a given athlete holds. Some just don't have much gray matter to begin with... a gold medal is for physical performance, not critical thinking.

But I think it might have more to do with the ages of some of the athletes - in womens gymnastics most of those girls were still in their teens. Probably not old enough to develop much political awareness.

I know it doesn't deserve them- its a matter of semantics. And proper reading skills of which I will not accuse anyone of lacking.

As for political views, well... its more about being decent and honest, qualities which the current incumbent does lack beyond a resonable doubt. If we do use the current Team USA as a cross section of the pollable American population, then we could say that an overwhelming majority of US Athletes strictly disagree with GWB. That is quite separate of critical thinking skills and more in the realm of seeing reality for what it is.

It annoys me, and makes want to play devil's advocate even more. if someone thinks I agree with Bush on every thing just because I don't think he is a #1 idiot or defend something he did, that's their problem.
