I-601 Filing Fee

I was reading the Guide of "US Citizen and Spouse both live/reside in the US" and there is incorrect information regarding the filing fee of I-601.

It says "** an I-601 is NO FEE, if, and ONLY if filed WITH an I-485. Later filing DOES require a fee. Whether to file an I-601 is an important decision -- like the J-1, consulation with an attorney is recommended." which is incorrect information.

You must pay the filing fee of $545 even if you file with I-485.

The only exception for the filing fee is

No fee is required, if you are filing this application to have waived the following grounds of inadmissibility

1. Class A Tuberculosis condition, as per HHS regulations; or

2. A physical or mental disorder with associated harmful behavior or a history of such a disorder that is likely to recur.

All other applications must be accompanied by a fee of $545. The fee cannot be refunded, regardless of the action taken on the application.

Do not mail cash. All fees must be submitted in the exact amount.

Also, when we filed my husband's I-601 WITH I-485, we had to include the filing fee. It also was well-reupated immigration attorney's instruction.

Please let me know if I missed something to conclude that filing fee instruction on the guide is incorrect.
