Hi there all!

I am wondering if anyone out there has a sense of the Montreal American consulate time-lines? My husband and I got married in South Korea where we met (He's an American citizen and I am a Canadian citizen) and we have had our I-130 approved for our immigrant visa (CR1). We had to transfer our file from the Seoul office to the Montreal office. We have all of our interview paperwork completed and we awaiting the interview??? Anyone know how long we should expect to wait? Does our I-130 have to be re-approved? How about my health checks and criminal reference checks - are they still valid?

Thanks to anyone who can shed some light:)

Rach

I really can't give you any definite answers. You might try calling and/or emailing Montreal and seeing when you might get an interview. I think there is a phone line if I'm not mistaken where you can call. Hopefully someone that has interviewed in Montreal will stop by and provide you the phone number. Your timeline indicates that your package arrived in Montreal 23 June, so that's been about 8 weeks so far, so I would hope it wouldn't be too much longer.

Your medical and police record must be valid when interviewed, and they're valid for a year. I don't know when you had them done, so you may want to check this and think about this depending on when your interview is.

To get similar timelines, click on Canadian members who are/ or had been going through the CR-1 and find out how long their timeline was.

americaq1234 just had their inteview in Montreal, and it appears that their package left NVC in June, they got their appointment letter in July, and their interview was this month.

I agree with Carla, you really need to contact someone to find out what is going on.

Once your file is deemed complete, it should only be a matter of a few weeks or less until they send you notification of your interview date.

Normally you would call NVC - but I'm assuming from what you have stated that you filed DCF in Korea and they have forwarded your file directly to the Montreal Embassy? If so, then you definately need to contact Montreal to see if you have been scheduled yet.

Their email address is: Montreal-IV-DV@state.gov

Their phone number, at least the one listed on VJ is 514-398-9695 Press 4 (between 2:00 & 4:30 eastern time. For a while they were not taking phone calls - however that may have changed.

Hi all,

Thanks a lot for your suggestions and help - how refreshing to actually get a response back from someone :)

It turns out that the NVC still has our stuff and Montreal is waiting on them to give us a "file completed" stamp of approval. I guess we have to pay for the affidavit of support form(70.00$) and a mailing address "chioice of agent" thing. Wow, this really goes on forever.

I notice that some people are suggesting paying online - sounds like a plan.

Anyother pearls of wisdom would be gratefully appreciated.

Thanks so much friendly people,

Rachel

PS Montreal still does not accept phonecalls...

Hi Rachel,

So just to clarify - has some of the processing already been done (ie have you already submitted anything other than the I-130 and G-325A) or are you just beginning the NVC process?

Hey there,

We were approved for our I-130 in Seoul in January and moved back to Canada May 1st - so we have everything prepared for the interview but we have not yet received the message that our file is complete. The process is mid-way through from what I understand. Seoul does all of their stuff internally from what I understand, so I think some things in our process were ommitted - had we stayed we would have had our interview months agoo (if only we had known...). I think now we are just trying to get the file completed for them.
