its hard to say what's a red flag and wha'ts not... you guys are the same age and met in person instead of online very good things. He will have to make his divorce final before you can start....

My best advice is visit as much as you can it really helps to know each other as much as possible in person before you commit to life together forever ...

good luck on your journey

Read the instructions (Section III, Question 7) and the medical form I-693 which can be found on this page Click Here! You will find that Hepititus C is not checked for nor listed as a reason for denial. BTW - this form is the one the doctor would fill out during his medical exam before the interview.

Hope this helps!

PB Rocks! That is good information to know.

BTW, welcome to VJ! You've received some good advice. Honesty is always the best policy. Not always the fastest route but the best! :D

Also, if you're divorced, you have to show legal proof of ur divorce so make sure u have that. You will have to send proof of taxes for 3 years, letter of employment from employer, depending on your occupation status you may need to have a co-sponsor that basically agrees that if anything happens and u can't "take car eof him" that they'll help.

and by the way, WELCOME WELCOME WELCOME to MENA! Sit back, grab a bebsi and cheesypoofs, relax, and join in on the conversations! This is a terriffic group of people!

Amal

Just watch out for the flying pineapples! Anyone seen Brid?

You guys are amazing! Thank you everyone for such a warm welcome and for all the great advice. Polar Bear, thank you for taking the time to research such an extensive answer. You really do rock! At least we figured out 1 issue. Aside from the divorce, there is lots and lots to figure out, that's why we haven't filed anything and definitely won't before the end of the year when I make another trip to Cairo. I just wanted to get a feel for what we might be in for.

BTW - what are flying pineapples??

You already got great feedback so all I have is:

Welcome to VJ and MENA! :)

"you fondle my trigger then you blame my gun"

Timeline: 13 month long journey from filing to visa in hand

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive, and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Thanks!

are u sure he isnt officially divorce already? my husband was divorsed and we had a legal paper i guess a divorce decree u could call it but his dowry was unpaid also. his dad appealed it cuz she was the one who divorsed him and not intittled to it or only intitled to some of it. so that part was still open.

even his ex would write email to him saying how did u go to america when u r still married to me. he said cuz we are divorsed but just the money part of it is open...the marriege is closed....so the final papers never made it to the place they needed to go because of that and she could not get remarried becasue of that.

the uscis only sees the divorse decree and thats good enough for them. i dont think they go searching too hard into the matter since they had the origional copy of the divorse papers.

If you get this divorce issue taken care, visit him again, keep all the records and send all the forms in on a timely fashion ... and keep on the case ... I would think the case would be smooth sailing -> but of course the waiting game does do a number on you but everyone goes throu this!

Remember we are here to help ... surely one or more of us will have asnwers to your questions! Esp Cairo ppl!

yes he absolutely has to get his divorce final BEFORE filing the visa application. They will look at the divorce date on his application and it will be a red flag that HIS intentions are not legit (no matter how you two met)

Another thing to think about is that if they consider it a red flag that u were dating before his divorce is final, then you will want to show proof of establishing your relationship AFTER the documented divorce completion date.

You will have to make a trip to Egypt after the divorce is final. Be sure to take loads of pictures together with ur man, u with his family, friends, in different locations. Spend as much time there with him as you can. If you can afford to go twice or more......the more trips, the better.

Keep phone records, instant messages, photos, cards, emails, cell phone bills, ANYTHING that you send to each other to show as proof of a legitemate relationship.

Yes please follow his advice and what others have told you here. This is absolutely correct.

AP: Over 1 year.

Visa: Nov 2

US Entry: Nov 13, Alhamdulillah.
