I-130 with USCIS

Since it looks like I won't meet the 6 month residence requirement of the embassy in my wife's own country to file an I-130 locally, I need to file it with USCIS in the US. I still have an address in the US and people to check it, so that won't be a problem. However, does the I-130 _solely by itself_ need an interview? In other words, after filing only an I-130, is there any need for me to be physically present in the US?

The US Citizen petitioner doesn't interview for a visa. Only the foreign fiance or spouse has a visa interview.

You will need to deal with the sponsorship issues one way or another.

I dont see why not, just be sure to have someone checking your mail weekly, for things from USCIS just in case of an RFE or something... also. Sign up to USCIS's online portfolio so you can check status on your own from web.

Yes you can leave the USA and go to your country if you are not from USA they dont need you to be present for the approval of your case with the I-130 petition. I am not in the states and my case is approved. You are still going to be present at the US embassy in your home country. Goodlucks.
