Hi everyone,

I am almost ready to send off the N-400 packet but I have a few questions that I would like clarification on from the N-400. I am the US spouse and I am preparing the application.

Part 8

A) How many times have you been married? (including annuled marriages) This is the first marriage for my husband and he has never been married before now. I put "1" as he is currently married to me. Is that correct or am I misunderstanding the question?

B) Spouse's Family Name. Should I list my maiden name or my married name here? I put my maiden name in parentheses along with my married name like this (Jones) Smith

G) How many times has your current spouse been married? (including annuled marriages) This one really has me confused as I am the US spouse and I have never been married before my now husband. If I put "0" how would that be interpeted? It seems to me that if I put "1" it would be looking for me to put a prior spouse information.

I want to thank all who have answered my previous N-400 questions even if I repeatedly ask it more than once(not intentionally). Also I did call the misinformation line and asked for them to explain these questions in laymans terms but I was told that they could not tell me what to put. You would think I was asking for answers to a test.

You are correct.

B) Spouse's Family Name. Should I list my maiden name or my married name here? I put my maiden name in parentheses along with my married name like this (Jones) Smith

Your legal last name at this time. If your legal last name at this time is Jones-Smith, use that. If it is only Smith, use that. If you use Jones as your middle name, put that in the box where they ask for middle name.

If your current legal last name is "(Jones) Smith", use that. Otherwise, replace with your current legal last name.

G) How many times has your current spouse been married? (including annuled marriages) This one really has me confused as I am the US spouse and I have never been married before my now husband. If I put "0" how would that be interpeted? It seems to me that if I put "1" it would be looking for me to put a prior spouse information.

1. You've been married once - to your current spouse.
