Toya: Rasta? Mya? Mya honey I’m so happy to see you both. God, we were thinking we would have to get a search party to find you guys. Rasta honey? I’m so sorry sweetie. We both are.

Mya: Hey T. I’m exhausted…actually we both are. I feel like I’m in a horrible nightmare that I can’t wake up from. So, where is Fitz? What did the police say again? Give us exact details okay?

Toya: Look come in the house…we don’t want to hold this conversation on the porch. Fitz went to the store to get refreshments…he thought we would need them. I only know what Fitz told me because he took the call. Basically, the police called to tell Fitz that Delmar passed of his injuries at the hospital, and no charges would be brought against him of course. They then asked about Rasta – said they needed to see him for additional questioning about that day. Fitz asked them what did they need to know because he could fill them in. They were adamant about not speaking to Fitz, and with more questioning from Fitz, they finally admitted that they were seeking to charge Rasta with voluntary manslaughter.

Mya: Travis honey, come sit down. You are going to pace a hole in the floor. Please baby. We will get through this together. I know you are upset, but just try to calm down okay?

Fitz: Toy--..oh there you are. You finally made it back huh? Look let me put these bags up…give me a sec. Rasta you want one? *pulling a Guinness Stout from one of the bags. Tosses the beer to Rasta.*

Tradee: Ehhnn. Where is my brother’s body? Did Melodee take care of everything?

Fitz: Man…I’m sorry. I was a little upset and didn’t think to ask. We can call the hospital and find out what happened. What arrangements did you want us to take care of? You know we are here for you in any way…just like you have been for us. Are you up to going with us tonight?

Tradee: Nuh breddrin. Mi good. Nuff ting a gwaan fe yuh right now. Mi ago link de hospital and ting…actually let me call Melodee and find out what’s going on. Yeah, I’m still going.

Mya: What’s going on tonight?

Toya: We are headed to my mother-in-laws house to help out with all the arrangements for Frowzy, and people that want to pay their last respects before the wake…I’m sorry Nine Nights.

Mya: Oh. Why is it called Nine Nights?

Tradee: Baby…I love you…but can we talk about it a little later? I need you to call the hospital for me while I call Melodee.

Mya: Oh H*LL NAW! You will not be calling that h*ifer! I mean didn’t she break up with your brother anyway? Last I heard she drove off down the road with Ian hanging off the truck. I don’t want you dealing with her Travis.

Toya: Mya calm down sweetie. We have to get information, and find out what happened to Delmar’s body…we just want to know if the hospital released his body to her or someone else okay?

Tradee: Mya please. Haven’t I shown you where my heart is? Why are you so threatened by Melodee? Dyam! Do you ever stop with all the dyam drama? You are number 1 in my life now. There is noone else okay?

I'm glad you guys are enjoying. I decided not to make you all wait for me to sort out this blog thing...so here's more of the story! BTW...some of the most recent story will reflect a longer timeframe for the characters because I'm going to change some of the story earlier to make the pregnancies seem like they could actually happen. Tried to cram too much stuff in a two week vacation...so just ride it out okay. LOL

Mya: Excuse me? Who are you talking to like that?

Fitz: Okay okay…things are getting heated…everybody is tense right now. Let’s all calm down before we say something we will all end up regretting. There has been enough fighting and arguing to last us a lifetime. Calm down Mya…I will call Melodee if that makes you feel better.

Mya: Cool. *Quietly storms out of the house and sits on the porch to keep them from seeing her tears*

Mya doesn’t understand why she is so sensitive all of a sudden, and why she looses it whenever she hears Melodee’s name. Tradee walks out behind her, and watches for a couple of minutes trying to decide his approach.

Tradee: Uh…Empress. Umm..Mya. Look I was out of line in there. I should have never spoke to you like that. I-I…baby will you look at me?

Mya: I’m listening. I said I was cool. No arguments. Don’t worry about me..handle your business. *Tries to discreetly swipe at the tears streaming down her face, while keeping her back to her man*

Tradee: Look at me baby…I want you to know that I’m sorry. I was out of line…I’m sorry. I love you more than you will ever know. But-but…I’m scared. I killed my brother baby. He was the only family I had left. I killed my twin brother. I never thought I would take a life…but I took my own brother’s life. What if they find me guilty? What will happen to you and my babies? Voluntary manslaughter?

Mya: Oh baby. I’m sorry. I don’t know why I caused a scene when I know what you are going through. Don’t worry baby, we will get through this together. We will hire a lawyer, and go see the police then. No matter the cost, we will find the best lawyer to handle this. You will not be spending any time in prison…and your wife and child will be fine with you right there by their sides.

Dyam…I still haven’t learned…with everything that has happened…I still only think about me. I’m going to be a horrible mother and wife. Sh*t.

Tradee: Come on baby…let’s go make some calls. Are you up to going to Fitz’s mother’s house?

Mya: Okay. Yeah I’m cool. I’m hungry though. I think we all need to get out for a while.

Tradee: Rass…I forgot baby. Can you wait until we get there to eat? There should be more than enough food at the house. Look, your bag is in the car. Go get cleaned up while I call the hospital. We should be able to head out right after you are done. I’ll borrow something from Fitz.

Mya: Okay. I love you.

The couple kiss tenderly…Tradee grabs Mya’s bags out of the car, and they head inside the house.

Lab technician: Okay Mr. Royale sir…I’m all done. The doctor should be in shortly. Is there anything you need before I go?

Ian: No. I’m fine under your excellent care. How long have you worked here beautiful?

Lab technician: *Blushing* I have been here almost two years now. I finished school in the States, and decided I wanted to move to Jamaica to make a difference. So…here I am. How did you manage to get in this shape…I’m assuming you are on vacation here? You look like you took a serious beating.

Ian: Really? That is very admirable of you. I wholeheartedly believe in following your dreams. Are you Jamaican? Well…you assumed correctly. I am on vacation…but I work hard and party even harder. I’m a big boy…I’ll be fine. Trust me. If you ever find yourself in America again, you should look me up. I’m a stockbroker in New York…on Wall Street. I don’t believe I caught your name adorable.

Lab technician: I figured I only get one shot at this thing called life, so why not follow my dreams. I did a couple of years with different hospitals in the States, but I have always loved vacationing in Jamaica. When I saw the opening here in Kingston, I jumped on it. Oh really? A stockbroker huh? That has to be a pretty stressful job I can only imagine. I could use some good investment advice…if I can ever find a free penny to invest. *laughing* You are quite the charmer I see. My name is Kimberly, and I am American.

Ian: Kimberly…like music in my mouth. If you think I’m charming with all these tubes and wires…why don’t you let me fly you up to the States for a vacation? I’ll take care of all the expenses…you know…air…hotel…food and of course entertainment. Maybe a long holiday weekend or something.

Melodee: Excuse me miss? I’m here for Mr. Royale. He was brought in today from St. Ann’s Bay Hospital? Can you direct me to his room?

Nurse: Pleasant good day missus. *Looks down at the huge stack of paperwork in front of her briefly before answering.* Certainly. Follow me. Of course he was taken for lab work a little while ago…but he may be back in his room now.

Melodee: Thank you. Do you have any updates on his status?

Nurse: Unfortunately, I don’t nor am I at liberty to disclose any information I may have. Rest assured…we will take good care of him.

Melodee follows the nurse in silence to the room. As she prepares to knock…she hears faint female laughter…and the rough timbre of Ian’s voice.

Melodee: Good..he is up. That has to be a good sign. I wonder why this female is giggling so much. Knock knock…baby it’s me your future wife. How are you feel-

Did I interrupt something?

The lab technician snatches her hand back from Ian’s embrace abruptly, and looks at Melodee with a wide-eyed, open mouth stare, while Ian glances toward the window. His jawbone flexes nervously. The lab technician quickly composes herself, straightens her lab coat, and walks toward the door.

Kimberly: I’m sorry. Uh..Mrs. Royale. I was just leaving. You have quite the charming gentleman on your hands. Congratulations and best wishes on your upcoming marriage. Ian…I mean Mr. Royale, your doctor should be in shortly after reviewing your charts. Take care.

Ian: Thank you Kimberly. You don’t to have to been so formal…Ian is fine. Talk to you soon.

Kimberly: Good day.

Melodee: Hi baby. How are you feeling? Did I interrupt something? You guys looked pretty comfortable before I entered.

Ian: Melodee please. I was having a cordial conversation with a female member of the hospital staff. No more no less. I figured you decided not to come since it took you so long to get here. Do you really care how I’m feeling?

Melodee: Of course I care baby. I couldn’t follow through intersections after the ambulance Ian. I got here as soon as I could. Let me get your pillows straightened. Do you need anything?

Ian: Kiss me.

Melodee: Are you sure I won’t hurt you? Why don’t you get some rest?

Ian: Kiss me. NOW.

Melodee hesitates briefly, casts a furtive glance at the door over her shoulder and leans in to kiss Ian. Her lips barely graze Ian’s lips in a timid mere whisper of a kiss. She pulls back to stare in this virtual stranger’s face. The man she is promising to love and start a life with. Ian returns her glaze, waiting on her next action. Melodee rubs the pad of her thumb over Ian’s hand as she tries to read her future in his eyes. Her eyes moisten with unshed tears, and Ian grabs the back of her neck with his free hand and slowly pulls her toward him. Their eyes never leave the other’s as they share more butterfly kisses. Melodee does not want to exchange bodily fluids, and hopes that she can pacify him with the feather light kisses, and no tongue action.

Ian can feel himself growing excited, and he tightens his grip on the back of her head, his signal for her to deepen their kiss. He is equally upset that he cannot fulfill his yearning, and that he is in a position of helplessness in the small cramp hospital bed. So, he forgets Melodee’s earlier lesson on how she liked to be kissed. He sloppily covers her mouth with his own, with a savage and insatiable hunger for her sweet nectar. Melodee attempts to break their kiss, and he refuses to let her go.

Melodee: Eeemmmm…MMMMM…IIII-MMMMM. I-Ian! I-I can’t breathe. Pl-pl-please I-Ian.

Ian barely hears her pleas because he is caught up in his own tumultuous emotions. He crams his thick tongue into the recesses of Melodee’s mouth until he can almost touch her delicate tonsils. He imagines that his tongue is stroking the sensitive nub on her other “mouth”. Suddenly, his brain registers her tiny mewing sounds, and the way her hands are pushing against him instead of embracing him. Ian wants to show her that he is not in pain…with the exception of the pain he feels from the yearning in his pelvis. Ian slowly pulls Melodee’s bottom lip into his mouth, and he suckles like a newborn baby on its mother’s breast. Melodee begins to relax into the kiss, and her stance is softening against him rather than pulling away from him. His mind is running at a mile a minute on different ways he can please her body with just his mouth. He quickly gets excited again as an image of Kimberly enters his mind.

Melodee: OUCH!!! Why the h*ll did you bite me again? STOP IT IAN! STOP IT NOW! I can’t believe you bit me until you drew blood! Do you want me to get infected? Do you want me to carry your baby with HIV/AIDS? I can’t believe this sh*t! What the phock is wrong with you? Why do you have to show love as abuse?

Melodee rushes to the mirror over the small sink in the corner of the room. She studies the damage done to her lip, and decides to wash her entire face with the antibacterial soap over the sink. She thinks nothing of the carefully applied make-up from earlier.

Ian: Huh? What? I bit you? Oh Gem! I’m sorry honey. I didn’t try to bite you. You have to believe me. Why would I endanger you and the baby? I still don’t believe that I am HIV positive Gem. Are you really washing your entire face, like I poisoned you? Melodee!

Melodee: Ian, I’m upset. You were careless! I have to protect this baby at all cost. I may never get the opportunity to give birth again. You have to face the fact that you were tested in the States too...and you are positive Ian. I know that I’m still waiting on my new test results, but you can’t risk my health right now. What if I’m still negative? Do you know it takes up to seven years for HIV to show in your system? You can no longer respond to your savage libido. I don’t like when you kiss me like that Ian. I HATE it! I will have the doctor dress this wound on my lip.

Ian: Really? You told me that you were okay with my “alleged” status, and that we would get through this together Gem. Look at how you are overreacting to a simple nip of your lip? Do you think I’m going to allow you to treat me like radioactive-nuclear-decomposing-dog waste for the rest of my life? I only wanted to show you how much I loved you…what I want to do to please you. Your body…the feel of your kisses drive me insane. I guess I stand corrected, and you no longer have to worry about my wretched kisses.

A doctor enters the room just as Melodee is about to respond. She bridles her unspoken words for when they are alone. She knows that she overreacted…but fear overcame her when she should have remained calm.

A doctor enters the room just as Melodee is about to respond. She bridles her unspoken words for when they are alone. She knows that she overreacted…but fear overcame her when she should have remained calm.

Dr. Allan: Hello. I’m sorry if I interrupted. How are you feeling Mr. Royale? You seem to be doing a lot better than when you were brought in to us. *The doctor checks vital records and Ian’s medical chart as he idly chats with his patient.* Hmmm…that’s interesting. Great. Okay, let’s see. Ma’am I must ask you to leave the room so I can speak to my patient alone.

Melodee: Doctor, I am his fiancée. I’m sure he is fine with me being here. Now, what happened to my man?

Dr. Allan: While appreciate that you are his fiancée, Mr. Royale has to give me permission to speak with you present. Are you okay with this Mr. Royale?

Ian: Whatever Doctor. I will just end up trying to explain it all to her later anyway. Give it to me straight. How long do I have to live?

Dr. Allan: Whhooooaaa. You are not dying…at least not right now anyway. Okay, we found out that you do not have any fractured or broken ribs. However, they are bruised and there is some swelling in the local area. You will be tender for some time because of the bruising. We also set your ankle while you were sedated. I didn’t see a reason to cause you additional pain by waiting until you were conscious.

Ian: So..why was I spewing blood, and why did I pass out?

Dr. Allan: I was getting to that. We found that you do have a rather large ulcer on your small intestine Mr. Royale. We were afraid that it was perforated, which requires immediate treatment. By the looks of things, the ulcer has been there for some time. Have you experienced any symptoms before now? Have you been diagnosed by a doctor in the States with the ulcer?

Ian: Welll…yeah. That’s one of the hazards of my job. I usually down a bottle of antacid or drink milk…and oh yeah avoid spicy foods.

Dr. Allan: Did your doctor prescribe medication to treat your ulcer?

Ian: I don’t know…maybe…I guess. I don’t do medicine doc. Okay, I understand the vomiting blood…but why did I pass out?

Dr. Allan: My guess is that your system was in shock from the intense pain from some of your injuries. It is not uncommon for our bodies to go into protect mode after severe injury or trauma. It could have also been from the significant amount of blood you lost. Have you ever given blood? Well, you know the lightheaded feeling you have if you don’t eat afterwards, or you get up too fast? The good thing is that there is nothing a little rest, and medication won’t help. Mr. Royale, you have to take all of your medication as directed, and get some rest. May I ask how you ended up with bruised ribs, a broken ankle and a swollen eye while vacationing on our beautiful island of Jamaica?

Ian: It’s all water under the bridge at this point doc. So, am I free to go home now?

Dr. Allan: Well, we want to keep you overnight for observation. However, if all goes well tonight, we can release you tomorrow afternoon sometime. Your fiancé can take you home and dote on you, which I’m sure she is anxious to do.

Ian: Oh no Dr. Allan, I think you have it mistaken. I mean home home…the States…not to a hotel room here in Jamaica.

Dr. Allan: *looks back and forth between the young couple and notices the unusually thick tension between the two* I see. Is there any way you can postpone your departure for later this week?

Ian: When can I go home?

Dr. Allan: My professional recommendation would be later this week or early next week. You have to allow your body time to regenerate. Jamaica is a wonderful place for relaxation. Millions of people flock to our shores just to relax. You are here with a stunning woman by your side, and you are ready to leave. Young people never cease to amaze me. Are there any other questions for me?

Ian: I guess not. I’m in pain right now, can I get something for it?

Dr. Allan: Sure. I’ll send the nurse in to place something in your IV. If that’s all, please try to get some rest. Good day.

Melodee: Thank you doctor. *glances nervously at Ian resting with his eyes closed* whispering Umm doctor, lend mi yuh aize nuh…ummm wan second alone?

Dr. Allan notices the look in her eyes bordering on fear and hysteria, and he nods silently.

Melodee: Baby, try to get some rest. I’m going to look for something to drink.

Ian does not answer her, and appears to be lightly dozing. Melodee follows the doctor out of Ian’s room.

Melodee: Ummm…I’m sorry for bothering you. I know that you are busy. It’s just that…

Dr. Allan: What is your name Beautiful? What is bothering you? Come on…I’ll walk you to the cafeteria, and we can talk on the way. *He whispers to a passing nurse to get pain meds to his patient before giving the stunning woman next to him his undivided attention.*

Melodee: Thanks. I-I don’t know where to start. My name is Melodee. Doctor, you didn’t mention Ian’s status…you know the HIV positive status? Is it possible for a test result to be wrong? I know it’s possible for a negative result to be wrong…but…but…

Dr. Allan: Hmmm…I see. You are worried about your status because you have not been as careful as you should have been considering he is your fiancé correct? Anything is possible, but the current testing methods are highly reliable and accurate to within a few percentage points now Ms. Melodee. I didn’t notice a ring on your finger, and hesitated to believe that you two were actually prepared to marry each other. I hope you don’t find me too forward, but I got a weird vibe from you two.

Melodee: Oh…oh it’s nothing. We have just had a rough couple of days. The reason I stopped you, is because…um…we were kissing before you entered the room, and um. Um…he got a little rough…

Dr. Allan: Did he attempt to hit you?

Melodee: No…no…nothing like that…well not really. Ian bit my lip and drew blood doctor. He suckled on my lip like he was nursing, and I couldn’t get him to stop. I’m afraid to kiss him because of his status, and now that you are releasing him tomorrow, it won’t be long before he wants to do more. What I want to know is how safe am I? What can I do to protect myself and my baby?

Dr. Allan: Oh! You are with child? That explains that pregnant glow on her skin. I have got to have this woman. I have never met a woman more beautiful. Take it easy Lester. Go slow. Here, let me. Have a seat. Did you want something? Coffee…tea?

Melodee: Tea please. Thank you.

Dr. Allan orders two peppermint teas, and comes back to the small table to continue his conversation with his newfound beauty.

Hi Nikki! Thank you so much! I always like to see when my story reaches someone that doesn't necessarily have a love affair with Jamaican culture. My fellow yardies love everything Jamaica...so I figured they would like it. Did you read all three parts? There is also one called Shades of Blue that I haven't completed yet.

Welcome...and feel free to add comments about the story...it helps me decide a direction to take with certain characters. I love the interaction.

Jawi

Mya took a long shower, and allowed the unshed tears to escape and wash down the drain with the pipe water. Her man was facing jail time and she needed to get back to the States soon. How could she leave him now? She knew that she would have to persuade him because he wouldn’t understand her reasoning for going home.

Mya loved Travis, but she missed home and the luxurious appointments in her downtown condo. She missed the jetsetting from one job to the next. She missed the radiant heat eminating from the photographers’ lighting…the thumbing rhythm coming from whatever CD was used to spur her poetic movements. She yearned for an ounce of her normal life. Travis wouldn’t understand her need to escape for a little while. It was almost too much to think about…least known bear.

Her body was rapidly changing and betraying her. She wouldn’t have much time to hide her swelling belly from her manager and other staffers. How would she explain her pregnancy to her parents without them being upset about not meeting Travis.

Mya sighed…washed her face again, and exited the bathroom. She looked at the outfits packed into her overnight bag and after much debate, decided on a flowing tangerine orange jumpsuit by Dior. The jumpsuit gathered and pleated under the bust then flowed in to airy wide leg pants. She normally wore a wide metallic belt to accent her small waistline. However, the swell in her lower belly became more pronounced with the wardrobe addition and she yanked the belt off quickly. She slipped on her metallic strappy Christian Louboutin sandals, and smiled at the extra lift they gave her perfectly shaped a*s. Mya applied her make-up carefully…tossed her still damp ringlets over one shoulder after adding a large orange hibiscus flower to the opposite side, then walked to the living room. She added a gold cuff bracelet and large gold hoop earrings to complete her look.
