Not in the new testament. My understanding of the point of christianity was the supplantation of the new testamanet over the old misinformed interpretation of the old - why jesus came amongst us mortals and all that.

Ahh, but the old testament is part of the bible, which is where the new testament got it's nastiness from, including killing children, bigotry against gays, etc.

Anyways, if all you want is New Testament:

Kill people who look lustfully at a woman

Unfortunately, most of you are going to hell

Jesus wasn't too happy that not all Jews were killing their disobedient kids (like told they should from Exodus and Leviticus)

God kills for having buttsecks, as he slayed thousands for it

(This one's great)

You will be punished greatly for not following the laws of the old testament, and will incur worse if you don't follow Jesus

.. just a few of them.

Perhaps a deportation via Greyhound bus would do the trick. A few well placed characters on board looking like Mad Max extras ought to set 'em straight.

Calling an illegal alien an "undocumented immigrant" is like calling a drug dealer an "unlicensedregistered pharmacist". (because somebody gives a damn)

These people do not qualify as Christians by any interpretation offered by the teachings of Jesus. Their brand of 'Christianity' is completely of their own creation. They are extreme radicals - just as dangerous and damaging as any other radical - no matter how they try to hide behind the guise of an accepted religion. (And no, I am not a Christian so no reason for me to try and defend Christianity).

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

Quite honestly, they're doing what they think is right, from their own interpretation. I'm not for or against a god, but I imagine if there is one, it wouldn't be a vote or popularity contest in terms of what American people define as "popular", and not "extreme". I can find sources in the bible to back up what they're doing, because the bible has a slew of contradictory things it tells people to do. Kill people, turn the other cheek, stone to death, love thy neighbor, righteous killing is ok, righteous killing is not ok, etc.`

I don't think it's so contradictory when you understand both the context or the purpose of the OT vs. NT... nor is is contradictory.. there just happens to be a remedy in the NT.

There are also contradictions within both the OT and NT respectively. The only real difference anyways between the two is time. Nonetheless, the advocating and do-not's are still there in both, NT still cites OT (in the previous post where I linked to NT citing OT to be enforced), and still give people mixed messages, hence the extremely diverse interpretations that have never been consistent. Some extreme by today's standards, not so extreme by a few century ago's standards. For something that's hailed to be valid historically and morally, it's amongst the most inconsistent books I've ever read. (Once a devout Presbyterian) In essence, it has to be written and re-written by the canon over and over again in order to modernize/liberalize outdated philosophies.

Those rabid church members sound about as sick as the man who committed the assault. This is an additional cruel and callous act planned against those already suffering because one another cruel and callous assault.

Phelpsians are far sicker than the decapitating cannibal chopf__k.

I think that's a slight exaggeration. However - they clearly they do get wrapped up in their ideology to the extent that they can't view this man's funeral as anything other than a venue of opportunity for their own particular brand of politics.

Christians? I don't think so....

That's actually a permanent state of mindset for them.

Hmmm....let's see...the definition of christian is:

Chris·tian - Pronunciation Key - [kris-chuhn]

1. of, pertaining to, or derived from Jesus Christ or His teachings: a Christian faith. - nope, not these idjits...

2. of, pertaining to, believing in, or belonging to the religion based on the teachings of Jesus Christ: - nope...still doesn't describe these idjits....

3. of or pertaining to Christians: many Christian deaths in the Crusades. - well now we're getting close...only i think they're worse...

4. exhibiting a spirit proper to a follower of Jesus Christ; Christlike: - oh heck no, if what i've been taugh as a child is true they are NOTHING at all like Jesus...

5. decent; respectable: - definitely NOT! there's nothing respectable about them...

6. human; not brutal; humane: - ummm....NO. i really don't think they're human anyway...demonic maybe, but not human.

7. a person who believes in Jesus Christ; adherent of Christianity. - methinks they need to read their manual again...they missed the boat on this one....

8. a person who exemplifies in his or her life the teachings of Christ: - again, NOPE. from what i remember being taught, Jesus never acted like this and if his followers are supposed to live this way, then they got some major changing to do, and from what we've all seen that ain't too likely to happen.

Yeah, I know we all know this...I just had to say something 'cos these people just pizz me off so freaking bad. These people were in my town a few years ago. It was horrible! What made things so bad was they decided to picket the school route entrance with their signs that had stick figures depicting buttsecks and stuff like that. Can you imagine what we had to deal with at school? The transportation dept had to re-route the employees so we could get to work and tried to re-route as many buses as possible so the children didn't have to see the signs these fockers were holding up. All of this because our local high school was having issues with a gay/lesbian/straight club that wanted to form so they could hopefully spread the message of tolerance for everyone. As a result, the club was banned. So much for tolerance.

When just about anyone is allowed to use the word 'christian' as a cover for their own particular blend of intollerance then the I can imagine that a genuine christian might get pretty pissed off. As for the banning of the club, that's too bad, really because it re inforces their belief that they have the power to do what they want in order to get their way. Horrible.

We found a solution to that "problem" also:

Windsor coping with influx of Mexican migrants

Updated Fri. Sep. 21 2007 10:57 PM ET

CTV.ca News Staff

A wave of illegal Mexican migrants has overwhelmed shelters and emergency services in Windsor, and it could be more than a year before their claims of refugee status are dealt with by Canadian authorities.

"Just yesterday evening, we received another 20 (people). I have no place to put them," Windsor Mayor Eddie Francis said.

Francis said it's so far cost the city about $230,000, about 20 per cent of the annual budget for shelters.

More than 200 illegal immigrants have crossed the Detroit-Windsor border in the past two weeks, on the run from an immigration crackdown in the United States.

Windsor's unemployment rate is currently pushing 10 per cent, making the influx of jobless refugees the last thing its economy needed.

Meanwhile, the refugees have begun to settle in. On Thursday, one refugee gave birth to a baby, now a legal Canadian citizen. Another woman is expecting any day, CTV Ottawa reported.

Dozens have begun receiving welfare benefits from the government while they wait for their refugee claim cases to be processes. Most of the claims have little chance of success.

The wave of migrants to Canada comes after U.S. President George Bush promised a crackdown on illegal immigration.

The New York Times reported that an organization in Naples, Fla., was the first to promote Canada as a haven for refugees, and charged a fee for assisting with the paperwork. Other groups cashed in on the scam.

"It is really regrettable that people are taking advantage of them and making money off of their misery," said Rivka Augenfeld, with the Canadian Council on Refugees.

According to Canada's department of Citizen and Immigration, those groups have been providing "false and misleading information" on Canada's immigration policies.

In a warning published on its website this week, Citizenship and Immigration cautioned foreign nationals to avoid the misinformation.

"Please note that the Government of Canada has no special programs to fast track applications, give preferential treatment or grant refugee status to Haitians, Mexicans or other nationals seeking refugee status," the notice reads.

It also gave the following tips to help immigrants avoid being taken in by people trying to make a profit off of spreading the misinformation:

* You cannot purchase admission or refugee status.

* You do not need to purchase forms.

* You cannot "exchange" U.S. documents for any type of Canadian "permit."

A spokesman for Citizenship and Immigration said Canadian officials have met with U.S. refugee groups in an attempt to curb the spread of misleading information.

Francis told the Canadian Press the influx has consumed 20 per cent of the city's annual $1-million emergency shelter budget.

The problem will only get worse as groups start popping up elsewhere in the United States.

"We may very well see this not only coming up from Florida but also Texas and California into the B.C. crossings," said NDP MP Joe Comartin.

In the first half of this year, more than 3,000 Mexican refugee claims were referred to the refugee board. Thirteen per cent of the 1,123 claims that were finalized in that period were accepted.

Canada has seen an increase in Mexican refugee claims over the past few years. Since 2005, it has been the top country, with almost 5,000 referred to the board last year alone.
