Hello everyone iam new here and a bit nervous I met my love online we've been together for 1 year now. Now I want to appy for the k-1 visa for him. Now I know we all have income requirements here in the states. But in Africa I am wondering my fiance does not have much money assets. and is not working cause the situatation is not really good . And well the question is How can he show he has income ''As not to be a public charge". In America is they a way he can use a family member to assist him. I am so afraid cause I want to see him make it here.

The person from america must sponser him. If need be a co-sponser can help.Your fiance in Africa does not need a job or assets. Our government does not want him or her to become a "public charge" and have the public support him or her. The person bringing him or her here is responsible for that. It is 125% of the poverty level. Line 22 of the 1040 is used to determine income level. Assets of the person from the united states can be used.

Read the guides at the top of the page before you ask questions. The reason I say this is because most of your questions will be answered. This question especially.

Your fiance does not need to show any assets, and the US govt. isn't concerned with how much money HE has (assuming he is the non-us citizen, or beneficiary).

You are the only one who needs to show income. If you don't make enough to satisfy the income requirements, which is 125% above the poverty limit, then you need to find a co-sponsor who can meet these requirements.

If you are unsure what I am talking about right now, read the guides and you will understand.
