It was over two months. I didn't want to drag it out. The first meeting is the most important part. If that goes well, you can start settling into the relationship.

... A week? if you count that he posted on a message board on a forum I read saying "My choir is touring the US next week, here are the stops" and I posted and said "Cool, one of those is right around the corner from my house, maybe I'll go." And he said, "Cool, we'll probably go eat dinner at someplace nearby after, you're welcome to come hang out if you want."

We met at that concert (my best friend and I had dinner with the choir at the pub across the street from the chapel), talked online for about a year, he came out to the US for a job interview, talked more, started a relationship, he came out to the US for the aforementioned job just under 2 years after we'd met ... and somehow we ended up getting engaged and then married.

Although we chatted for years, neither of us was interested in a LD let alone an international relationship. Both of us were still with our previous family's and didnt discuss our failing relationships.

So it was a long time before feelings developed, and by then we knew each other pretty well...

Why is there nothing like 0, or 15 seconds?

We met in person (I had asked his friend to hold my seat and he was sitting in it for me), so I think there was about 15 seconds between where he was getting off the seat for me and introduced himself.

Sian and I met online on a message board in October. We didn't start having a relationship though until January. Within a few days, Sian made plans to visit me. As she said, why waste our time if things don't go well in person? She arrived here in April, we got engaged, and she went back home. Then she flew here again in June. Until recently, we talked on MSN every night for 3-5 hours, and on the phone 3-5 times per week. The lack of sleep got the better of us though, so we've limited it to only a couple of nights per week on MSN, a couple of calls during her lunch hour, and one long call per week. It sucks, but it had to be done.

Lady, people aren't chocolates. Do you know what they are mostly? Bastards. ####### coated bastards with ####### filling. But I don't find them half as annoying as I find naive bobble-headed optimists who walk around vomiting sunshine.
