just a little while ago I heard this strange sound... I thought it was just my toilet running, it does that sometimes.... but as I was walking towards the bathroom I realized that it wasn't the toilet.... the pipe thingie that leads to the hot water burst a hole and there was hot water spewing eveywhere... :o

I couldn't turn the water off right aways because who ever built the cupboard thing had put the knob thing right up against the side so I had to go grab a hammer to try and make some room so I could turn it.... All the while the water is still spewing out and running out to the hall and getting everything wet in the hall... and everything under the cupboard was getting soaked so I threw it all into the bathtub.... and I was kneeling in inch deep water trying to turn the stupid knob thing.... Finally I managed to turn the water off...

Now I have a bunch of towels soaking up the water and a bunch of soaked things all over the place and a hubby who is away at work for at least another couple of hours :crying:

Ugh I hated it when I'd flood my house somehow in the past. Be it with my washer or springing a leak like you did or some other way. It's a b!tch of a mess to clean and then get everything dry. Glad you were able to finally shut off the water tho. But don't you live in an apartment? I woulda called the super/landlord/whoever and told them to get their a$$ over there, I wouldn't have cared WHAT time it was, screw that! Do you live in an upstairs apartment? People downstairs?

Try duct tape. My motto is: If you can't duct it then fuct it....lol.

Find the main valve coming in to the house for future reference. It should be in the basement.

i think MP lives in southern Cal... no basements there. but still an ecxcellent proposition. everyone should know how to turn off the water and gas lines. out here in California, the water line valves are usually located out in the front yard, somewhere. usually, next to the sidewalk. dunno about apts.

we live in a garage that has been coverted into a suite..... if I would have turned off the main valve it would have turned the water off in the whole house and I didn't really know where it was anyways....

Yeah, I am ok.... the water disappeared rather quickly... not sure where it went
