The new (old) mailman delivered Marina's biometrics letter today...whew! I think the regular guy must be back on our route since the summer is now officially over; today's mail was back to being delivered by 11:30am instead of 2:30pm so I got it when I was home for lunch. Definately glad I don't have to call USCIS this week!

I'm glad I'm not the only one that religiously follows mail delivery times. I guess immigration will have that effect. haha

Well we finally got our biometrics letter today and she has her app. on the 9/19/08 in Seattle at noon. GETTING CLOSER TO THE END.

Sweet! By the looks of the June Nebraska filers, USCIS is getting N-400 applications done in 3 months. Not bad!

Guys some positive news I just saw a posting on the July filers and

SamFam.............07/22........07/31......08/18.......10/09......xx/xx...St. Paul, MN (NSC)

So looks like they are really moving fast. This gives all of us some hope that they are moving faster. I calculated that my letter should be here by Sept 12th, provided that my background check goes well by the grace of God. Then looking at Oct 18th to go for my interview. I think I am losing it. LOL.

Well, it looks like I am the only one in the board that applied in the beginning of august and they still haven't even cashed my check!!!

I called them few times and they always kept telling me to call back when it has been 30 days since they got the papers,so I patiently waited and on the 32nd day called and got transfered to IO, who basically told me to.....keep waiting!!!!! They don't have me in the system yet and he said just to regularly check with my bank when my check will be cashed and that will mean that soon after that I will get the NOA! I asked how much more time should I wait until I know that something is wrong and he didn't really answer my question, just to keep waiting!

The only thing that gives me a little hope is that a friend of mine applied few months ago and it took them 2 months to send her the first NOA. So I am setting this as my time limit too and I could only hope for some action on their part sooner then that!!!Gosh, I am so sick of this s***!!!

Ilona so sorry to hear about your process. I know it's frustrating, just hang in there, just remember this is your last few steps with dealing with the USCIS.

You have every right to be angry/frustrated and I give you credit for getting on the phone with USCIS even though their answers are always canned. We went through the same thing with Carina's I-485 (the FBI name check fiasco) and I couldn't just sit by & wait and did everything from an Infopass appointment to contacting the Ombudsman and even writing the First Lady!

Of course I don't think you are quite at the stage to write Laura Bush but I do understand your frustration...I mean how hard is it to cash a stupid check and send a NOA? They have done it for the rest of us and your case should not be treated any differently.

Hang in there...we are all rooting for your case to get moving.

Actually, contacting government is a great idea. Twice during my wife's green card application, we received RFE's that boggled our lawyers mind because they didn't make sense. Both times I contacted my local U.S. Representatives office and they got details USCIS wouldn't give us. They have a standard way of contacting USCIS and can get case specific information. I should also mention that the last time we had an issue and called our Reps office, we received notice of approval within a couple days. Coincidence? Maybe. But I think you should give it a shot.

If you use personal check for payment, you will see the case number assigned to you in front of the returned check.

If you have internet banking, you can check it, so you can confirm two things - (1) USCIS recieved your case, and (2) you know the case number now. ^^

Usually they ommited "0" between first four characters and numbers, so you have to pad "0" between those to make up 13 digits.

Some people experienced the problem with mail delivery, so if you lost NOA1 in the mail delivery, you may not have any information to give USCIS when you want to check your case.

Cashing the check by USCIS means that USCIS received the case, and probably they entered your info to the system.

A couple of years ago, USCIS found that they dumped a couple of thousand people's file into dumpster or something like that.
