 Good idea on the washer and dryer. When I was in Egypt I was so lost on the washer and dryer in the the places I'd stay because they are so different compared to the sophisitcated ones we have here. Waleed had to do my laundery for me. He was saying, "I would never do this for anyone else." But it was really a lot of fun with me and him doing laundry together, or at least him teaching me how to do it with the machines they had.:lol:

LOL they had all kinds of settings with pictures that made no sense. I remember the snowflake. We figured that means cold. Actually, the snowflake was related to the spin cycle. How does that even make sense?

It's crazy....my hubby's family never had a dryer...only the washer. So when he came here, he's thrilled w/ getting his clothes done so fast. I hate doing wash...he does it all the time...thank god! He washes and dries and I fold and put away...I like that deal! :)

That does sound like a good deal. I used the balcony for drying there. Waleed didn't like me putting my intimate appeal on the balcony for all of Cairo to see but then I looked over to another apartment and pointed out, "See they do it." So he didn't argue. He just doesn't want them to see what his wife wears under her clothes but for heaven sakes they sell panties in the street for all to see.

And by men! I was actually shocked into embarassment by the way those thigns were sold and who you had to deal with. I could NOT believe it. I mean it's men selling them, either on the street or in a store, but it's men... and then you have to tell tehm your size and all of that if it's in a store and you have to have them get it for you, and they keep asking you if you want a thong or this or that, and it's really creepy. It make me miss victoria's secret!!!!

Yeah, I remember having to say 100 times-- no, I do not want a thong!!!!

Oh no! I am guessing you didn't end up asking around (have you seen my panties?) or hanging up a sign (lost! I lost my panties yesterday, have you seen them? here is a pic).

My husband started to hang my underwear on the balcony and I wouldn't let him. There was a room with nothing in it that they had clothes line ran accross it. I put my underwear on that.

I couldn't buy underwear in the middle east. There was no way I was dealing with a man to buy my underclothes. Luckily I stocked up on Victorias Secret before I came so it wasn't an issue.

Has anyone else noticed most Victorias Secret underwear is made in either Israel or Jordan?

No, but I love the free cotton panty you get every month :D Although honestly, their panties are the only things that fit me in that store. I prefer fredericks of holywood for any of the fun stuff, much better for big busted women

Went to my OB/GYN and I am happy to report my baby's head is down and desending! Measurement of the femur shows it well within the normal range ... it is around 5,5lbs ... few weeks to go! But I say ELHAMDULLAH that my baby is healthy!!!! Calls for celebration tonight! Have my husband fire up the BBQ!

Ye SandS buying any underwear in MENA is tricky. All male salepeople, not many places to try them on and everything is in Chinese "mini" sizes ... I remember this last time I bought undies and the size said on there XXXXXXL #######! They were like American size 8 ... way too many Xs for me ... I felt sooooo fat! But countries like Morocco and Egypt are great .... so many sizes from very small to very big! Unlike here where everything is STANDARD! Uffff!

But buying bras are worse since not only not many sizes buuuuuuut the ones they have are so cheap quality. Even the nicer frilly looking ones are #######! I was happy to see they opened a La Perle in Alger ... but LOL way too expensive! Personally, I save up my money and ask people to buy/send me some from the States. Yet to find anyone that ships here!

That would be a drawback to living in Algeria. Jordan did have some stores in Mecca Mall I felt comfortable buying underclothes in and the quality was just as good as in the US. Unfortunately, their prices are about the same as the US and sometimes more expensive.

Some of my favorite things are made in Jordan..including jeans, shirts, etc :)
