Hello everyone, we just got approved and am starting to have some additional questions from what I have been reading. I understand that based on the list the letter of intent to marry shouldn't necessarily be notarized but I have also read from a few interview experience that they were asked to submit a notarized letter of intent to marry. This may be a case to case basis, what do you think is the reason why a CO asks for a notarized one?

Wouldn't hurt if I let my fiance' send me both. :P But could be an added expense to him. :(

the letter of intent that i brought to usem wasnt notarized. actually, the prescreener and consul did not even ask for it.

i think they just ask for the letter (notarized or not) for special cases. maybe the others can share their experiences why the co asked for a notarized one. so far i only read 1 case in vj wherein she was asked to submit a notarized letter of intent and it should be dated after the interview. though i never got to know why.

No need to notarize...just have the same citations on the first letter if intent he sent during the application and just change the date which is nearer to ur interview and address to manila USEM.

Just like gabrielle08 wasnt ask during my interview in the prescreening...

GOOD LUCK Ate Marie!!!

hi marie! i think that is case to case basis. during my interview they didn't ask me a letter of intent but still i bring two. one from me and one from my fiance the date is close to my interview date... i read that topic here in VJ that the consul ask her a notarized intent of letter... (maybe on the I-129 F they didn't submit. that is just what i think) hehehe.

Thanks for the replies mga beauties! :) Just wondering why it's asked when it isn't specified as 'notarized'. It's hurting on our part who make sure every detail of their guidelines are followed and would be asked by something that can cause delays. Sige na nga, will bring both! This could be a good tip for those K1s with upcoming interview.

The Letter of Intent (in most every case) does not need to be notarized.

i had the letter of intent to marry notarized for the initial petition. then on the interview, i brought along with me the copy but it was not notarized. The prescreener and the CO did not even asked for it.

Hello Marie :star:

The Letter of Intent is not necessarily notarized but our case was an exemption.

I think maybe the reason why the CO asked for a notarized one was because my fiance was not able to come to the Philippines December 2007 as what he used to do every Christmas season. And maybe also, she just wanted to make sure that he had not changed his mind on marrying me.

It's a random requirement.

Good luck (F)
