im a new member here and im very much thankful ive found such a helpful website especially in this unexpected situation that me and my "new" wife are going through.

i filed a K1 petition for her and we got married last month. from then, she had a strange feeling in her abdomen and so i took her to a doctor. to our surprise, she was diagnosed to have an extra pulmonary TB - Gastro intestinal.

now im concern about how will this affect my petition for her. i have thoughts if she will be deported because of acquiring such disease. we already filed for her AOS and its in the process.

Here is some facts about Extra pulmonary TB:

1. It can be diagnosed only through biopsy, MRI or CT scan. Question: Do the medical section for AOS do these kind of testings?

2. If TB is only in other parts of the body (extrapulmonary TB), it does not spread easily to others.

"....Although extrapulmonary TB is NOT CONTAGIOUS, it may co-exist with pulmonary TB, which is contagious.(Source: Wikipedia)

As you may all ready know, US government seems to ONLY care about diseases which is contagious, it is obvious the Pulmonary TB is contagious. If this is the case, I have huge hopes that the Extra pulmonary TB of your wife will not be a problem. Her extra pulmonary TB is more likely had not spread to her lungs yet, I pray that it will not spread to her lungs, I am sure you have proper medications for that.

I hope she get well and your journey will go on, God bless! :star: :star:

He filed the K-1 and she already entered the USA and then they both got married. He learned of her illness after she was already here. He was worried that she would be deported because of this illness.

on my own opinion, since shes already there.. she can consult a doctor and yes start the treatment for it. i dont think she needs to be confined in a hospital facilities for it. she just needs to take a course of medication..

i think the concern here is, since he filed K1 for her "wife now", will she be needed to have a medical exam AGAIN in the U.S. that would trace her present sickness ( extra pulmonary TB) and might be a reason for deportation.. like when the beneficiary is still in the PI, when SLEC trace that she/he has TB, they wont allow her to go for the interview..

maybe the man's concern here is,will his wife needs to undergo a "medical check up" for immigration purposes again and if they find out of her sickness, will it cause a deportation? OR SHE CAN JUST BE TREATED AS NORMAL IN THE U.S.

cus weather wat type of sickness u get when ur already in the U.S. it doenst matter cus they have the best treatment response for it..question is, will there be an effect on the processing of her permanent residency, does the immigration needs to know if the beneficiary got sick? and if they need so.. what will happen.

it makes me wonder..why? is there another medical exam for the beneficiary that needs to be done when she/ he gets there in the U.S. ? , is it something like wat we have gone through at st. lukes? i never wanted to do that again  lol

Godbless you fisher. were all praying for you and ur wife.

if thats the case then i dont have to worry.:) me and my wife learned that she needs to take some medication for a couple of months. i just have this thought if the doctors here in, wont hold her for an anti TB medication since she is not a citizen yet. do you have an idea?

i dont want her to go back to the PI because of this. i can take care of her while shes here with me. shes been very worried about this and i want to assure her that everything will be ok.

SHES - thanks. yes, u got my point. i know that type of sickness can be treated here but my concern is will it affect her application for permanent residency. will they require her to go for another medical exam? i hope someone could enlighten me on this. i love my wife and i wanted her to be just fine, i wanted her to be treated here.

me and my wife went through the processing of K1 without consulting visa journey, but with all the responses im getting right now, i can tell how much this portal became a great help for all the K filers and a very great help for what me and my wife are going through right now.

See item 22 here for instructions for civil surgeons, especially item 17:

http://www.cdc.gov/ncidod/dq/pdf/civil_surgeons_ti.pdf

Extra pulmonary TB, non-infectious, is not a reason for exclusion. Get her the recommended treatment and make sure no doses are missed. I cannot emphasize this enough, as missed doses can cause treatment resistance, and you do not want that outcome. Usually treatment is for a minimum six months duration. Normally the K-1 medical exam is good for one year, so she should be okay for AOS. I can't say that with 100% confidence. Your local health department will most likely have to be involved, regardless of status with the USCIS. This is normal, so don't be alarmed. They will help you.

My prayers are with you for good health.

I am aggre with Thai Mom. As i recall my expercience talking with the doctor here (local doctor which the USCIS instructed me) cause I came here with the record on my medical result that I have a TB before and healed and still need to do some laboratories examination. The doctor told me it will not be a reason for deportation hence the local surgeon will help the patient for his/her medication for free, thats the good things in this. The health center here will really help the TB patients for medication to eradicate this kind of disease . So dont worry, just go to the health center nearest you and ask for help there... medicines, laboratory exams and consultaation are free...

I will include you and your wife in my prayers...

Thanks Jane for imparting your experience. i was so down the past days, thinking about my wife's case. true enough, that people here on visa journey are very helpful.

btw, when were you able to talk to a local doctor? i believe youre talking about the "civil surgeon" from the USCIS?
