Hi Everyone

I would like some input on this obsevation: Several VJers and also a friend of mine were turned down at the interview at the embassy because their income did not meet the proper reqirements. My question is if when the I-864 was mailed in why was there not a question or rfe at that time? Why wait until a person is at the interview to be turned down.Your opionions, suggestions, and knowledge would be greatly appreciated.Thank you

Richard

are you sure they weren't K-1 or K-3 filers? They fill out a different form and take it to the embassy.

One I am sure of was I-130 spouse and that was a friend of mine.He claims to have plenty of money and assets and I believe it.He had to get a co sponsor???The others might have been K3.I am not sure

I'm sure they look at it. I can't tell you cuz I haven't sent mine yet, but I've seen some people get RFE's for them. Pretty odd they would require a joint sponsor. Perhaps its different when you're using assets instead of income.

IT COULD BE MY FRIEND DID NOT DOCUMENT HIS ASSETS CORRECTLY.LIKE DEEDS OF PROPERTY AND PROOF OF OWNERSHIP ETC

If it was for a CR1/IR1 visa, the NVC checks the paperwork and will not process it if the income was not enough. It could be that the embassy in Manila is being pretty uptight about the income requirements, but in that case I think the beneficiary should bring with them printed info of what the income requirements are to enter the US. It's already been set and they shouldn't be raising the income requirements just because they feel like it.
