Just an interesting thought I had today!

Would you all immigrate to USA if it weren't for the one you love within the last 4 years?

You need to qualify for an immigrant visa somehow.

More to the point, if it wasn't for your SO, what kind of immigrant visa classification would you qualify for?

What kind of question is this? I don't mean to be antagonistic, but unless there's a particularly good job opportunity waiting for you or you're running from something (i.e. the law, family, poor choices in life, etc), why do most people move, whether or not it's in their home country, state/province or even city? Yes, I know "for love" is an answer, but we're ignoring that possibility for now.

As far as I can tell, most individuals dislike moving (I know I do!), so packing up your belongings and heading to an entirely new country probably isn't something a whole lot of people would do on a whim.

Lots of people migrated here legally from India in the 80s on sibling (and derivative) IV's without good opportunities, solely in the hope that one would pop up after arrival.

I would not have chosen to move to the US if it weren't because I was marrying an American who lived here. I would happily return to Canada if the opportunity arose, although I still wouldn't enjoy Winter (VBG). That being said, I do enjoy living here. I never in my life ever thought about moving to the US until Joe and I talked about getting married.

Many people I know would love to move to America. They simply like the country, the way of life in general.

But I doubt I would actually move if it wasn't for my fiancee. There is no visa that I would qualify for anyway.

It's funny, when I was younger, I always said I was going to move to the US one day. I'm a writer, have been since I was about 5; and always said that I was going to be a writer in America - for no particular reason! It's just what I said I was going to do. It must have been some kind of message from my future.

Yeah well i guess I have been delving into the politics and economics of this country recently (seeing as I will be a citizen soon), and am not quite sure what the word is maybe "disapointed" , so i was just curious on that side I guess.

I have grown up all over the world, Asia, Mexico and Europe and seen a lot so was just wanting to get other people's views on wether this is somewhere they would chose to live if it weren't for the SO.
