I joined VJ just before Ammar's interview in order to get help with what to do about that. I had done the rest, but not 100% alone-- i had a friend who had gone through the same process and filed K-3 who was on here, and she met me on another forum. She called me and I called here and we worked through the filing. Anyway, once my paperwork was sent off it was not too bad, just long and tiresome. I'm still here for 2 reasons: 1) we'll need to file for removing conditions this next march, and 2) you guys are hilarious and I also remember being lost and wanting help... and if older people never stuck around, there would be none of that!

None of my posts have ever been helpful. Be forewarned.

If it weren't for VJ I would be tearing my hair out thinking I was the only one waiting waiting waiting for VSC to approve our I-130, but I know there are a bunch of us who haven't had any touches since 2/24 so it doesn't feel quite so bad. Also it is so good being able to come here when I am feeling sorry for myself, going to temple and there is an American girl with her Indian hubby and I feel so alone... At least here I know there are people who are waiting like me, some who have been waiting even longer. And then there are people(like my stepfather) who belittle LDRs, or the (all together now)'HE'S ONLY MARRYING YOU FOR THE GREENCARD!!!!!!!111 brigade... I know people here all 'get it'.

VJ got us through the process, no doubt about it, even though I was mostly just lurking then. I'm not sure I would have had the confidence to try this without a lawyer otherwise. I've also received a lot of support during the adjustment as well as insight into cultural and religious issues. The dialog among folks with such diverse backgrounds is wonderful, and just knowing that others have been through what I'm going through makes all the difference in the world. I've also enjoyed visiting the other regional forums. I try to give help in return when I can. I don't post about very personal issues here because for me this isn't the place, and I take personal advice here with several grains of salt. It's no substitute for face-to-face friends and family, although I've met some wonderful people here who have become true friends. Even though we don't have much to do for USCIS at this stage, I hang around to see how folks are doing, to learn from them, and hopefully to encourage them.

I'm the USC.
