Georgia/Russia Conflict

Watched the McCain speech. What a load of #######. Still don't know who did what to who but I can recognize ####### when I see it. According to McCain, Saakashvili's halo is the brite shining light leading Georgia into democracy and freedom. I have not taken sides yet but I think both sides have dirty hands. Like Kevin, I think it is an atrocity that the people have to suffer due to the political games of others.

I heard Condi talking on the radio today and she's going over there tomorrow with some U.S. troops.

My "Oh $#!T meter" went into the red.

Didn't hear the specifics but something about "serious consequences" if aggression didn't stop.

I hate to see what happens next if a there's an "incident" involving U.S. vs. R.F. forces.

Truly scary stuff. And Condi speaks Russian.....

I heard this morning that she's going to visit the Georgian President, but has no intention of going to Moscow. Because, you know, being a neocon lapdog means only having to negotiate with one side. Nicely done.

Russia's intentions are becoming clearer now. They have been destroying Georgian military installations on the Black Sea and it's sea ports. They are digging in south of South Ossetia and are only an hour away from Tblisi. Does anyone think sending Condi Rice to France and then to Georgia will frighten the Russians. Putin probably can't talk because he's laughing so hard.

The Russians won't stop until someone is willing to put up soldiers in defense of Georgia. I'm telling you, if Russia gets what they want, then Ukraine is next. Can the Baltic countries be far behind?

My wife had a conversation with her father yesterday. He is a retired career Russian/Ukrainian military officer. He believes it is a local issue and there is no way Ukraine or any other border nation is at risk. I hope he is right.

I don't think Ukraine has anything to worry about. Georgia's one thing, but invading Ukraine would bring more shiт down on top of Russia's head than they'd care to handle. I have a feeling that Putin's starting to make the rest of the Russian leadership a wee bit nervous. As long as he sticks to the main goal of flexing Russia's military might, he's fine. He'd be dead before he hit the floor (unfortunate heart attack, especially for one so fit!) if he ordered a Ukrainian invasion.

Well, to be fair I'm not quite sure how the girl knew it was Georgian bombs dropping, especially since she admitted to not actually seeing any drop. It's pretty clear that her and her family are politically (possibly ethnically) Russian, so really their responses were predictable, no matter where the bombs came from. Good on the Russian troops though for helping them get through the lines and on their way to Moscow.

And dear god I hate Shepard Smith, but I've seen him treat interviewees a lot worse than he did these two. As much as I hate to defend FOX, I really do believe his hands were tied in limiting their responses.

Let me say what i think since i am half Georgian and Half russian which lets me be objective in this conflict.Part of my family is stuck in Georgia and part in russia..

so here is what is really going on which i can prove by videos made ..you can check hose videos about russian Savages stealing stuff from Georgians and harrassing people.

Russia sent to Georgia soldiers that been in a war in Chechnya.these people have no homes,they are sick(everyone would be after war in chechnya and things they have seen) and they do not care about anything.some iof them do not even know they are in Georgia.

they break in villages,One of them is Village where i was spending all my childhood in summers.Russians shooting in all civilians at home and then raping Georgian Kids and women and take them in a hostige...I do love russian people and i am russian citizen,however i was born in Georgia and seeing my people Suffering like that just creeps me out..Nobody is againts Russian nation as a nation,the conflict is with actual premier minister Putin,that is trying to create soviet union again..I feel bad for those soldiers that instead of getting help are sent to kill more and feel even worse for people that do not even watch tv and running now and hiding in a mountains with their kids..

and Please,Russians before making up your mind watch news on CNN and read russian articles and then also Georgians on Rustavi2.com

that way you will be able to analyze yourself what actually is going on...

Kotenochek, you are right. Whoever's fault it is, it's the Georgian people who are suffering. What about your family in Georgia? What is their situation? Are they safe?
