So, i was talking to a friend of mine about the I-130 for my husband. She had the nerve to tell me be a little patient. It's so easy for people that are not going through this to say that. At least i feel like i am doing something to make this work, not just sitting around waiting and getting frustrated. Have you guys heard the same thing from others too?

I dont think people understand what we're going through so they just talk out of their ###, excuse my language.

I just called them and he said your decision should be made in the next 30 to 45 days and got a referral number.

Hopefully they'll aprove all of us here.

It's not easy to hear. But, it is good advice. It does no one any good to make themselves sick over it all. Because, in the end, there is little you can do to spead it along.

I wish it weren't so. I wish I could personally do something to change the whole process for you and everyone else who is waiting.

Hang in there.

Life's just a crazy ride on a run away train

You can't go back for what you've missed

So make it count, hold on tight find a way to make it right

You only get one trip

So make it good, make it last 'cause it all flies by so fast

You only get one trip

We went through K1 and now we're waiting again at AOS. There's a lot of waiting involved in this process, and people who aren't going through it often just don't have a clue. Many people I've spoken to assume that once a foreigner has married an American, it's an instant green card. It's taken a lot of patience (and grace!) on my part to explain that it isn't true, and that to go through the immigration process legally is time-consuming, expensive and emotionally draining. Mostly it's ignorance, but I've found most people to be much more understanding once I've explained the process to them.

It IS tough waiting, and it's hard to be patient, but at least on VJ you'll find plenty of people who know exactly what it's like! Wishing you all the best.

Make it two.

I hear this every second of my life. We have been living apart for the last four year and three years prior to that which we knew eachother.

Every single time I am just frustrated they give me this BS. Pisses me off when I get the same thing from family members.

Last time I called USCIS, she told me you have filed your inquiery and wait for 45 days let us do the work. I said to myself, thats the problem you guys don't work (they work but not on our cases)

Put it this way, lots of people are not enjoying the marriage life. In my mind, we as people have lived seperated for a while have a better understanding of how good it is to have your spouse next to you forever and I am sure we all do appreciate it.

Good luck people

During our engagement (which was a year long) people would ask constantly when I would be moving - and yes, the perception is that you marry a USC and get an immediate Green Card. I became so tired of the questions and having to explain all the time that when we finally got married, I only told about 3 people. They understand the process we are going through and don't ask stupid questions all the time. I totally understand your annoyance...most people don't have a clue how hard it is to have your future in the hands of so many unknowns and all the waiting, waiting, waiting.

People really do not have any clue as to how emotionally tormenting it is to wait for this stuff.

I also feel bad for the family members of the couples who are waiting on them to come home. For me personally, the hardest thing is not being able to have family AND my husband. I've got my husband, but I want my family back with him at the same time. It's really difficult for some people (like my friends here in Turkey) to understand why Im not satisfied with having my husband around only. I want to go home to MY country where I have more rights, freedom and respect from other people where I can do what I want when I want (within reason) and not be judged for it as much as I am here.

And most importantly, I want my husband to be able to experience this, too.

I really can't complain because we're DCF and we're together -- I could never imagine being without Oguz -- but keeping patient is really not easy. I hope everyone on here will find their happy ending much sooner than later!

I guess the question that is always in my mind would be "Is it so bad to want cake AND pie?"

I've heard it and said it. There are certain times during the process when there is absolutely nothing you can do but wait. During all the time though, you can continue to learn about the process and help others during the process through your participation here.

Isnt it better to hear to be patient than hearing this

"What's going on with ur husband process, how come it's not getting approved?

I really wonder what else can the other person say? You hear worst of things, at least with me, have heard a lot from so called friends or relatives, how he is just a white guy who used me and never going to come back or how my life has been ruined by him.......well I was even asked to consider a re-marriage :ranting:

So if I were in your shoes, I would grab their suggestion of being patient and thank my stars that I didn't hear something absolutely absurd this time around.

We all live the cocoon life, how much each of us knew about the process before stepping the foot, at least I didn't know a thing, I thought it would take maximum of 3 months or at least I will get a tourist visa to see my husband whenever I would wish for.......and boy was I wrong.

You have to live your own life, so live it, don't expect others to know your problem or your situation, they aren't obligated to you and you can't shut them up, but you can always shut your ears and decide not others to bother you. Think about it, will you be coming to these forums as much as you do now when your husband will be with you? You will be busy with your life and family, that's how your pals and people are, busy with their own life. I apologise if I sound harsh, but that's how life is and you have to accept it.

I have heard a lot of that "be patient" thing. Sometimes it is really quite pesky to hear that from people around me. They just could not understand the way I feel and what am I going through. It is easy to say "be patient" or "I will be patient" but very difficult for me to do that. Long forbearance is not one of my virtues. :bonk: Unfortunately, I cannot do anything but to wait (not sure how long) for VSC (very slow center) approval..

I promise to love you in good times and in bad, with all I have to give and all that I am, in the only way I know how -- completely and forever......
