Travel to Hawaii

Hi all

I entered the US under a K-1 visa at the end of May (valid until end of August). I received a SSN, got married early July and have now applied for AoS (I-485), including I-765 (I will have my biometrics taken next week). However, I did not apply for a I-131 as I do not intend to leave US soil any time soon.

We decided (I and my wife) to have a belated honeymoon in Hawaii in September. The link

http://www.visajourney.com/faq/k1k2visa-enter.html

mentions indirectly that there should be no problem to travel to Hawaii from continental US (since it is one of the 50 US States and I am not leaving the country at any point), mainly concentrating on issues about the US Virgin Islands etc. However, I would like to make 100% sure that this is the case.

So does anyone out there have experience with this i.e. traveled to Hawaii before getting their green card without an AP?

The only documents I will have are my valid (well beyond 6 months from the trip's return date) foreign passport and my EXPIRED I-94 (since it will expire end of August and I will be traveling in September). Of course, it still shows that I entered the US legally; but in theory they don't know that I got married or applied for AoS. I can bring copies of my AoS papers and my marriage certificate of course, but the question remains:

Am I allowed to travel to Hawaii by plane under the current circumstances?

Is there someone who is certain that a K-1 is legally allowed to travel to Hawaii from continental US without an AP with an expired I-94 but unexpired foreign passport?

(Note: I did ensure that the ticket under my name coincides with the spelling on my passport)

Any help would be greatly appreciated! A honeymoon is fine but the last thing I need is to be stranded in Hawaii for months or years to come! :help:.

Thanks a lot

Pi

Only thing you need is a photo ID that has the same name as your plane ticket. Passport will be fine.

Thanks Haole! I noticed your local center is in Honolulu so that put my mind at ease! I mean you would know!

Thanks also Steph for your wishes. We do need the vacation after all we've been through so we'll make the best of it!

Any other photo ID will be fine also. A passport isn't even needed to fly domestically. Enjoy your trip! Don't forget to update your profle as well...your not K-1 anymore!

I went to Hawaii in December 1 day after I got married, before we had even applied for aos. all my wife needed was her foreign passport. they didn't even look at her K-1 visa. further proof of this: The k-1 expired while we were on our honey moon and no problems on the way back. your clear.have fun!!

PS: if your going to the big island get the airport at least 3 hours early, its CRAZY busy. and unorganized..

Be sure and take your umbrella! Hilo is the rainest city in the US!

Since the Vog has increased so has the acid rain also.

Yup - hubby works for the National Weather Service there and he was just complaining about the vog a few weeks ago. Much better than a winter in Canada though.
