Hello VJ's!

I applied for AOS and EAD at the end of may.

There is a good job position for me. I applied and I was accepted!!! However I am still waiting for my EAD.

My future employer wants me to sign a contract next week... It is a good oportunity to work in my career.

What should I do? Can I sign a contract? WHat happens if I do it? If they give me a check for moving bonus or milage, is it a crime to accept it?

Does anyone passed through this situation?

According to VJ my EAD will arrive September 7th....

Any piece od advice is very welcomed!!!

First of all, and I am sure you're aware, is that the VJ estimated times are just that, estimates. It's not an actual date as to when it will arrive, just an average time based on the dates people have entered from their own experience.

You can sign a contract to accept a job, but you cannot start that job or receive any sort of compensation relating to that job until you have the EAD in hand (this would include relocation fees or millage allowances).

K-1 Visa Process.

I have a similar situation. My husband received the work authorization stamp at JFK and already signed a contract and is working even though his K-1 status expires on 9/16. He probably won't have the EAD card by then. How strictly do you think the government tracks that information, and what are the consequences? He has a very good consulting job and it seems his employer isn't terribly concerned. Should we be?

After 9/16 he will no longer be authorized to work until he has been approved for the EAD that he will have filed for along with his AOS. If he continues to work after that date his employer could be in big trouble and if he is asked at his AOS interview "have you done any unauthorized work within the US" how will he answer?

Can he take a leave of absence from his job until he has his EAD?
