Filed: IR-1/CR-1 Visa Country: Vietnam
Timeline

I snuck in to the interview area (opposite the American Citizens Services) with my wife during her interview. I was the only white person in the area. My wife went to the window, she dropped her papers and I went to help her pick them up. I went back to my seat and then the consulte called me to the window and asked why I was there and this area wasn't for Americans. I said sorry and I politely left the consulate and waited across the street.

My wife got the pink slip (CR1 Visa)

I think Becca is right. The consulate in question does make a difference, I'm sure, but I think most often, the non USC attends the interview on their own.

I am hoping to go to my fiance's when the time comes, but I'm starting to think that I'd rather save that time and money to help him finish packing, and fly back to our home with him in tow. (L)

I'll be leaving when I get the visa so my fiance will be coming over here in one fell swoop. For the visa, to help me pack and then to move me back. I think he is going to take 2 weeks leave of absence from work to do it.
