We went to Memphis for interview in August 2005. We took a notebook of all documentation, pictures, bank records, mortage statement, letters from family, all USCIS filings, Marriage Cert, Birth Cert and documentation on fire that destroyed our home and property in March 2005. I had each group of documentation in sections in the notebook.

We waited about 20 min in the lobby and was then called back for interview. We were ask a few questions, nothing tricky or unusual. Just normal questions and very few. The interviewer looked at book and pictures and mainly a doucuent that showed joint ownership of something. I beleive she took the mortage statement and made a copy for her file.

We then talked about our fire and rebuilding of our home and then she said everything was in order and we would receive greencard in about two weeks. I believe we actually got it in about one week.

All in all a very good experience, friendly interviewer and no problems.

I hope this helps

oh, also took latest tax filings (2004)

Actually tried to get on the bank acct. yesterday and still can't till that number comes thru. so i have nothing like that. we will see.

FYI:

You DO NOT have to have a SSN to open a bank account. I ran into this problem when I tried to add my husband to my existing account. Here is a quote off of the Social Security Administration website.

"Lawfully admitted noncitizens can get many benefits and services without a Social Security number. You do not need a number to conduct business with a bank, register for school, apply for educational tests, obtain private health insurance, apply for school lunch programs or apply for subsidized housing. You cannot get a Social Security number for the sole purpose of obtaining a driver’s license. "

I tried again after I found this information and I simply told the teller that I needed a manager that was aware of these rules from SSA. The only thing we had to have was his passport with his visa and I-94.

GOOD LUCK.
