just about to mail off my wifes NBI clearances with the DS-230

she got two from two different places

however, I notice it says in small print in the corner that it's not valid without the thumbprint, but the thumbprint is blank!!!

is this normal for them to omit this, or was my wife expected to add the thumbprint herself after leaving the NBI place? that would seem silly to me because then anyones thumbprint could be added!!!

maybe she forgot to do her thumbprints during claiming of her NBI..

cos after u claim ur NBI there would be a last step..

and that's where u do ur thumbprints..

but she can still do it by herself..

uhm.. if ur in the US then she's in the philippines..

i think it's better for her to get another one then mail it to u again..

u can save money.. IMO..

than u mailing her NBI back then her mailing it to u back..

it's expensive to send stuff overseas..

My asawa did the same thing. While we were gathering the NVC visa application docs, she mailed to me her NBI missing her thumbprint and the embossed stamp. Instead of sending it back for the thumbprint and enduring a huge delay, she went to get another NBI a couple of weeks later. She did have to apply the thumbprint herself before leaving the NBI office, but received no instructions on what to do after she received it. We chatted just after she did all that, and upon asking if she did apply her thumbprint correctly, she presented her blue thumb in the webcam!!! Proof enough!!

It'll be faster if she will just renew her NBI clearance. It took me less than 15 mins to get mine. I was too much in a hurry to leave the NBI office I forgot to put my thumb mark. So when I got home I just used our ink pad & voila .. it's done.

Like what others have suggested, to save money & time, better to renew the clearance & send it to you.
