Hi all!!

Well we finally got our Notice Of Approval Of Relative Immigrant Petition!

This was after a hitch with the initial application as we didn't send accompanying letters which delayed things by about 2 weeks.

So now we're told that we're going to be advised by the Consulate about the next stage - how long does this usually take?

Will update my timeline accordingly - but all you May filers should have heard, or will hear something really soon!

#######...what accompanying letters?

We did send an outline of our relationship, along with some pictures, but not a really formal letter.

Oh and "CONGRATULATIONS"

Hi there!

Well because we didn't include a letter (from the petitioner), saying stuff like... we met via whatever.. met on whenever, have been together since... and are intending to spend the rest of our lives together as man and wife.. they returned the application, but then asked for THAT letter.. PLUS three other letters by third parties (family members, friends, of either benficiary or petitioner - doesn't matter which).. signed in front of a solicitor or notary.. luckily my wife was back in the States last week and managed to get them all notarised.

If you sent a letter saying something as mentioned above, i'd hope you'll be OK - if not, they'll return the application, but you send it back to I-130 RFE (which is the referral dept i presume).. it only took 6 days for them to approve.

Does this help?

Congrats! Incidentally - where in TX are you moving to?

It seems a lot of people going through London are getting the same RFE. I wonder if there's been a change of policy there?

It's been going on for over a year, but seems to have become more frequently requested over the past 6 months or so. I seem to have been the first UK DCFer on VJ to have received the RFE, and that was back in April of last year.

I think it's pretty cr@p of London not to put the affidavits, etc in the list of required documents for the I-130 submission, considering it seems in most cases these days they are being requested ultimately. Even if, according to whatever criteria London uses to determine the need for the documents, your case doesn't require the documents, the time spent compiling them is front-loaded, when you might be less anxious and feel you have more time to get your ducks in a row. The RFE just adds to everyone's aggravation whilst they're in the process and already freaking out.

Just my two pennies...

Well, that puts the kibosh on my tentative theory that it was a new development arising out of new con-offs turning up and doing things their way...

Just my two pennies...

Which are worth as much as anybody else's :)
