I know on the passport itself, there's a space for emergency contact...but that's it.

I've got good friends in the Ghanayan community, and I've heard lots of immigration stories...both honest and fraudulent.

It's not my place to judge anyone, and I hope everything works out for you, but I also hope this is a lesson for all of us...

Still hire an immigration attorney.

It is legal for law enforcement to lie to get information. The FBI may think you know something so they are threatening to revoke your visa in order to get you to talk. I think only the USCIS can revoke your visa, but the FBI does have some weight with the issue. You are able to appeal a revocation or denial and you should get a notice from the USCIS for the revocation.

You don't recall having to do that, but some people are randomly selected for extra information when submitting their passport applications. Example, my whole family submitted passport applications and I was the only one selected for "extra processing". I had to submit the phone, birthdates, social security, addresses, and names of at least 15 friends and family members. They even asked for my stepmom, stepdad, and step siblings. They wanted my high school yearbook photos and a number of other things. Trust me, what the OP is saying makes sense.

I'm sorry this is happening to you. The reason the FBI maybe be involved is because it's something much bigger. The other person involved may be in a marriage scam ring or something like that. For the FBI to be involved it has to be something that big or they're looking to catch someone with ties to your information. It's not the first I've heard this happening and I'm sure it's not the last. I pray that this is resolved soon.

AND HE IS ALSO CONTACTING THE SPECIAL AGENT JACK BARNHART ABOUT WHAT IS GOING ON SINCE HE IS THE MADMAN WHO CAME TO MY JOB WITH HIS BUDDY. MY HUSBAND ISNT A BAD MAN AND HE DIDNT EVEN KNOW THE GUY. There are several companies that do background checks and the FBI does a name check for any known criminal activity or connections with activity. What is unusal about this case is the FBI became involved after the the background checks and FBI name checks were cleared and the visa was issued.

While the media getting involved may be helpful at the same time any information that comes to light that the petitioner is not aware of may come back to haunt them. This could back fire.

One thing the petitioner could do is issue a FOIA (freedom of information act) to the FBI file pertaining to her case. It may take months to years to obtain and they may omit information in the file by blacking out lines but it might be good to see what is in that file for herself.

The FBI is involved because a crime (fraud) is suspected. They apply the "if it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck it must be a duck" reasoning. If you are innocent my sympathies go out to you, but the FBI is trying to do their job. Like so many said before a competent attorney is necessary & I believe you said you hired one.

To the OP, please get a lawyer ASAP! Dont talk or say anything without the help of an attorney. These people will twist a misconstrue whatever you say just to make a case! Get your lawyer and do exactly as he/she says becuase this is no longer just an issue of a visa but a issue of jail time or at the very least a big fine.

What I was getting at with the reference to Ghana, is that I've heard of lots of people who've done it the right way and got "caught up" and people who've done it fraudulently, and got "caught up". Sounds like Ghana may be on a watch-list.

Whatever the deal is with you and your friend...there must be a reason the FBI pulled her passport app, and I still say to you good luck,

Who exactly are you replying to????? Getting all emotional doesn't help the OP either. There are many possibilities here... she could be innocent & her BF is involved in something that she is unaware of... or she may be guilty of something.... or the FBI might be completely wrong. Hopefully the truth will come out one way or the other.
