So showed up at the Ambassador Bridge this afternoon, in a regular lane and stated to the guy I was activating my visa and importing my car. He asked if I had my package and I said yes and showed it to him. He asked if I had anything to declare and I said just my clothes. He said are you moving in today and I said yes. I got my orange paper and headed into secondary. The nice gentleman outside checked my sticker, told me to go inside, I indicated I was importing the car, he looked at the compliance letter and checked the VIN and sent me in.

It was mega busy in there today. Every officer was loud enough in the fact that they did not want to go an immigrant visa as the guy who checked me in was assessing who was doing what. So I stood there, like an idiot in the middle of the room till someone finally called me up. I explained I was also importing the car, he gave me another form to fill out and said to go to the front of the line when I was done filling it out. So did that and stood there again for awhile. Got called up, the guy processed the car in less than 2 minutes and then told me to take a seat while he did whatever it was he had to to process everything else. I was called up again for a signature and a finger print. Then called up again to have my passport returned. He explained if I didn't have my green card in 9 months??? to call. That was it.

Went over to the nexus trailer to update all my info there and was gone. Everything took an hour and 15 minutes total. What a mega relief. Now I get to unpack for the last time.

glad it went well this time

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Congrats!! How much do they need to fix up that secondary room, seriously? When I'm sitting in there I realize why everything with immigration is so slow; they can't even fix up a building to look official, I felt like I was in a country train station Lol.

My wife has been back since June 5, 2007. Now we're just livin' man, L I V I N :)
